I have been diagnosed (and tested positive for) Lyme after 5 years with "MS" and about 7 years of feeling like crap before that. It looks like I've been infected for 12-15 years.

Anyone with any experiences / advice to relate on treating Lyme when it's this advanced? I am under the care of an LLMD, I can walk and work, fatigue easily, exercise anyway. Uncoordinated, a little numb. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

I have the feeling this may take some time (years) to reverse, if I can make headway at all.

Thanks.

Hi!
Welcome!
Sorry to hear you are unwell but now at least you know what it is and can start treating.

Good to see you have a LLMD.

I think your gut feeling is right that it is going to take a long while to get better since you have been infected for so long, but everyone is different.

Good luck and take care,Sue from Downunder.

Welcome to the board.

I want to let you know you aren't alone. I believe I was infected for 17 years before being diagnosed.

I think the best advice I can give is to keep a positive outlook. It's easy to get angry at the doctors who misdiagosed you and to become scared of what the future holds. But the last thing any of us needs is more emotional stress.

My other advice is to treat any symptoms that you feel need to be treated. As long as you are treating the Lyme, I think it is ok to "cover up" the other symptoms to make your life easier. If you can control pain, reduce fatigue or anything else, go ahead and do it.

Best of luck on this long and winding road,
Aniek
