I know i already have a thread going about what to take these drugs with. But, I really need to hear about the dosage which everyone takes.

I just picked up my prescriptions. My LLMD wants me to take 600mg of Zithromax TWICE a day. Thats 1200mg total. Im only 100 pounds and that seems like such a high amount of medicine.

Also, the Mepron, she wants me to take THREE times a day, 5 ML by mouth.

Does anyone take their Mepron 3 times a day? Where am i going to squeeze my acidophilus in?

I will call tomorrow, but i would love to hear what you guys are taking.

Jordan

Hi Jordan,

I do think you may be right about the dosages being kind of high. I'm on 5mL (which is 1 tsp. or 750mg) twice a day and 500mg of zithro a day. I've been on up to 600mg of zithro a day but even on the 500 I get horrible ringing in my ears and have to back off to only 250mg a day every other day to keep that in check. I think maybe a call to your LLMD may be warranted to see why she is putting you on such a high dose of both of them. I think that maybe at that high a dose it could be very difficult to handle, even at the normal dose it can be difficult to deal with. Hope you get it figured out!

Jordan, do a search on Lymenet on Mepron & you'll find lots of good tid bits. Awhile back, some of us Lymies, coined ourselves..."Mepron Buddies." We swapped Mepron gab, recipies, Herx from hell stories etc. Perhaps the Mepron buddies will reuinite?

I'll start...I take 1000mgs of Biaxin, 1000mgs of Septra DS, & 2 750mg packets of Mepron daily w/Meals. I take 12 acidophillus capsules 3 when I wake up, 3 at 10:30am, 3 at 3:00, & 3 at bedtime.

Needless to say, I wouldn't modify your meds w/out speaking to your lLMD. Your LLMD should be able to clarify any meds related questions.

Annie:

Thanks for the reply. Yes, i will call her in the morning.

Im waiting a week to start the ABX so hopefully, i can get a handle on yeast.

I gave away all my diet coke yesterday and put the coffee maker away.

How depressing.

Lymelighter:

I just upped my acidophilus to 5 pills three times a day. So, thats a 15 billion three times a day.

I did a search on Mepron. I will try Mepron buddies.

Wow, were those drugs expensive. It only cost me $40 but retail they were almost $2000. Ouch. Thank G-d for insurance.

Thanks guys,

Jordan

Your doses are correct.

Zithromax 1200 per day and Mepron 3 times per day.
I take the same doses along with artemisia 6 caps/day.

The full dose of Mepron is 3 times per day, not 2.

Jordan:

I am on 2G IV Rocephin per day, 5ml Mepron 2x per day and 200 mg oral suspension Zithromax per day. I also take lots of supplements, including Artemisinin. This is about all my body can handle in a day. A higher dose of Zith gave me awful gastro problems & ears ringing, etc.

You will know, fairly quickly, what your body can or cannot tolerate. Discuss any side affects with your MD. You can both work on adjusting the dosages if need be.

On the dosages you are taking I would be spending my day with the great white porcelain bowl. But that's me. Everyone is very different. These amounts might be just right for you. Helps to keep a daily log of how you feel - for you and your MD.

Feel better.

WildCondor:

Thanks for the reply. I called my DR office and the nurse told me that the prescriptions were correct. She is going to check with my doctor to see if i can ramp them.

Delt:

I was hoping that i would only have to take the Mepron twice a day. Three times seems like so much.

Bc:

I keep reading about the artemesia. Does it really help? My doctor never mentioned that.

Hope today is a good day for all!

Jordan:

I'll give you my personal experience with artemesia, since I am self-treating with it. I did 5 weeks Doxy, followed by 12 weeks of IV Rocephin, then 8 weeks of oral Ceftin. I was not getting better.

I went off abx and took artemesia annua tincture and oil of oregano tincture, just based on some reading I had done. I herxed my brains out on this combo. My MDs put me back on abx, Amoxy and then Zithromax. I got worse again, to the point I could not walk.

That's when the lighbulb turned on in my Lyme brain that I probably had Babesiosis. I told my MDs about my experimentation with artemesia annua and how I herxed big time. They agreed that I should be on a Babs protocol and said it was ok to keep taking the artemesia, along with the abx combo. I did/am, but switched to Artemisinin capsules, which I take every other day until I can work up to a comfortable daily dosage. It's pretty potent. My improvement now is slow but steady.

I think the artemesia was the turning point for me. At least it helped me to understand that I probably had a co-infection. I should point out that my first Babs test came back negative, as many do.

Hope this is helpful.

Bc

Yes, that really helps. I will bring up the artemisinin with my LLMD next time i see her.

My pharmacy did give me the right amount of Mepron (3 x 5ml) and Zithro (2 x 600).

I waiting for her to call me back about starting at a little lower dose.

I did test boderline for babs with IngeneX.

Thanks a bunch,

Jordan
