Hi, I've been on 250mg once a day of Levaquin for 6 days now and yesterday started to feel like I had sunburn on one finger, and around my lips, like they'd been scorched. It's just that I am not sunburnt.
Today, it's there again on the back of my right hand and little up towards the wrist, and a tiny bit on left hand (back of one finger)...........The sensation goes from feeling like I've got my hand in a bunch of stinging nettles, OR tingling, OR like in ice cold water, OR like burning hot.
Is this cause for alarm? Do I need to quit the Levaquin. I assume it's not the Doxy, I've been on Doxy 3 weeks and been fine.
I don't feel ill apart from this odd skin/peripheral neuropathy thing.

So sorry to hear it! It does seem to be real cause for alarm; the effects can last a long time after you quit abx. I googled on "Levaquin , peripheral neuropathy" and found many reports of it, with pain frequently starting on the 6th day. Here's just a sampling:

Thanks Minoucat,
I just had a look at those sites. Not good.
Now I don't know if this is a situation where I need to get a hold of my LLMD on a Sunday, or having stopped the pills, can it wait until Monday (afternoon for me due to timedifference).
Is it RARE that this has lasting effects, or common?

Hello Dontlikeliver....I hope this helps you...I found some cautions and an warnings aobut Levaquin. Here is what I found In The Pill Book..Severe, possible fatal, allergic reactions can occur even after the first dose..these reactions include cardiovascular collapse, loss of consciousnes, tingling , swelling of the fact or throat, breathing difficulites, itching and rash. stop taking this drug if this happens and seek medical attention,.

Thanks Cathy,
I haven't taken it now since yesterday morning, and although the tingling and stuff is still there a bit (but less) - at least it's not worse. So, I guess it's not an emergency.
I will contact my LLMD tomorrow.
