Is it normal for the ringin in your head to be constant? I mean I can ignore it as long as there's sound around, but as soon as I'm in a quiet room, it's maddening. Does anyone have this problem?

My ears are always ringing too.

It doesnt really bother me anymore. I just dont think about it.

I've had it for 14 years. (misdiagnosed until about a year and a half ago, have had lyme all that time, but did not start tx until a year and a half ago). I don't expect the tinnitus will ever go away, I believe the damage is done.

Sudden deafness and severe tinnitus have been my 1st symptoms of Lyme. I recovered most of my hearing, but still need double hearing aids; I am amost totally deaf in my left ear. The tinnitus has been unabated since 1999, but now I can ignore it most days. Certain medication makes it worse; asprin, naproxin, Zithromax,
I had surgery ( a wick placed in my ear and dexamethazone dripped into my inner ear), in February 2000 in Sarasota, Fl. This proceedure helps some people, but did not help me. In fact my hearing decreased after the surgery. Go Figure!
Tinnitus can be caused by many things; one of them is Lyme, because it is a bacteria infection, and infections that reach the neurological system can affect your hearing, balance, sight, etc. That is probably why many of us have this condition.

Medications and/or Candida can be the culprits of ringing in the ears.

My tinnitis used to seem constant. Then I discovered it might be in one ear and not the other. The it became intermittent as well...

Until it was in one ear and not the other I thought it might be the meds. Then I realized it just wasn't the meds at all. I was those darn spirochetes!

I rarely have it anymore (after 30 years of having it)..and it's just an intermittent quick thing during a flare cycle. I have the bad boys on the run. I just hope to stay protected with abx until the generations die off.

are most instances of sudden hearing loss due to lyme, temporary? i've had some vision problems in the past, and recovered fully from that after a few weeks. i'm really hoping that's the case here too. the hearing in my right ear is pretty much completely gone (this happened about a week ago). i've had it looked at by an ER doc, and he said there was no sign of infection...so i'm assuming it's a lyme related thing.

i was diagnosed a few years ago, and havn't had any problems in the last year til now. i really can't afford to lose my hearing right now (or ever, for that matter). any input would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

i have had this problem along with some hearing loss since before being diagnosed...and before any medications.

I do also at times have sensitivity to noise...which is another very annoying problem. i have had no resolution of this symptom even with treatment. i'm beginning to believe that it is damaged nerves.

i do see a neuro-otologist once a year...not sure if he is "lyme literate" but the last time i saw him he thought that lyme could be culprit.
