Since taking the antibiotics about 2 weeks ago I am afraid my brain is turning to mush! Headaches, inability to think straight, slight difficulty speaking, lightheadedness, pressure, moodiness, other neuro symptoms (numbness, tingling, etc). I actually think I am losing my mind. Sometimes it feels as though I am going to go crazy. The Paxil is helping but I need some Lyme help...
I think it is a neurotoxin thing but I need something to take the toxins out of the brain and CSF. Anyone out there have any advice? Anyone try a neuro detox protocol that worked? Help!
Thanks.
Ed

Ed, so sorry to hear it. Pretty typically miserable experience, I'm sorry to say.
The liver cleanse I use is fine with abx, as far as I know, but the colon cleanses (with bentonite clay in them) bind up the abx and whoosh them out of the body if you're on orals.
I did take Questran while taking IV abx. Got a heck of a headache and generally felt dreadful the first time around for several weeks. By my third round of Questran I felt much better.
I have a file of all types of cleanses, detoxifiers, and a few herx management tools that I've collected; I can email it to you if you like. They've worked for me or for people I know at different times; I can't guarantee them but they might help.
There is also quite a bit on lymenet about cleanses and detox, if you search on those words. Interesting posts and links.

Sorry to hear you are going through this, but take heart--the abx are working, and generally, the more crazed you feel, the better they're doing.
The stuff that has helped me the most with herx overload are Celebrex, Bextra, L-theanine, phosphatidylcholine, N-acetyl choline (NAC), flaxseed oil, coptis, and B vitamins. If you do a search, Marnie has written a lot about magnesium--there may be a post from the last two days.
Definitely do a search. People discuss this subject a lot, and there are many more options to choose from.
