Just curious if anyone else out here needs to have a temp. handicap placard to get around without having to depend on people driving you. Because when I get out at a store people stare at me like what is wrong with you? You can't see Lyme Pain!!!

I have one, but I try to use it only on my worst days. Unless I'm in the most dire of pain I'd rather deal with the pain than that look!!

My mother has one too. She usually looks fine but like you said you can't see the pain. Just do what you have to and don't worry about what others are possibly thinking!

i have one also but there are so many young kids that use their parents card that there is never any room in the handicap spot. in pa they give you a card and only the person with the card can use the placard.
I also only use it one my worst days, but there are usually no spots to use even when i want to use it.
it is real good at the beach in fl , you can park up front and not have to pay for parking. i guess its one good thing you can get from lyme disease.

I have to use mine because of the extra room needed to get the wheelchair out of the van, which since I don't drive, my husband has to do it for me. I wish I had the kind of ramp that wasn't so manual. There is no way I have enough strength to get the chair out with the ramp we have.
One day I had to go to the courthouse and their handicap access to get inside was worse than just dealing with the steps, so I left the chair in the van and decided to just go slow. Wouldn't you know there was a woman having a cigarette on the steps of the court house and she decided to make it her priority to chew my but out for using a handicap parking spot.
I live a life homebound because I have no assistance, but I'm to the point that society has shamed me into isolation rather than to be accosted on the street for not "looking" disabled.

okay, my whine for the day!! sorry......

I just resently aquired a placard. People see that I have a hard time. I don't use a wheelchair or cane but I walk very slowly.

I don't care what people say. If they want to complain where I park, I am ready for them.

I would rather walk a mile as to feel the way I do.

Sorry. I had to vent. I don't normally do that, but I am in terrible pain.

I have one. I use it when I need to and don't on my stronger days or times.

I am very thankful for it.

I live in a small town and have not had any problems with the exception of not being able to always find a space or it being further away than if I parked in a non handicap spot.
