My Ambien is starting to loose it's efficacy. It only gets me to about 4am. Sleep duck gave me Trazadone as he said it doesn't rebound.
I took it last night and while I slept till 6, I was in a Fog, BIG TIME! It made the Lyme fog so thick I was like a pinball on my way to the shower.
What's up with this stuff? Anyone else have the same experience?
I've tried Benzo's, Ambien, Sonata, Melatonin, 5-HTP, you name it and I just can't stay asleep all night. I hear Centocor has a sleeping aid that supposed to be better than Ambien w/no rebound but it;s not out yet. Any suggestions?

How many milligrams of Traz? personally, I'd rather take it than any of the "newer" drugs.
You probably just need to "ramp up" the Traz. I would start with maybe 100mg ... you can go to as much as 300mg...If that's what you took the first night, then NO WONDER!
I can easily take 250mg [plus Ambien and a few other goodies] and still wake up refreshed! But then that's ME!

I know what you mean about the fog the next day after trazadone. I also had unusual evening reaction. Within 30 minutes after taking the medication, my eyelids became very, very heavy. So much so.....that it was impossible to keep them open.
The only problem was that my mind began to "race" . The heavy eyelids would have been desirable if it were not for the speeding thoughts. It were as if a thousand spring break teenagers were celebrating inside my brain.... you can imagine? This medication also seemed to have too many lingering side effects to make any benefit seem trite. When I became ill initially and was experiencing insomnia, doctor's wanted to prescribe anything short of arsenic, just to avoid prescribing sleeping aids. Let's see, if there are two dozen different antidepressants and a required three week dosing period, a doctor can avoid making the narcotic choice for quite a long time. Now for me, Ambien was a three year positive experience after someone online told me to eat a small snack when taking the medication upon going to bed. It seems the carb holds the med and made it not only last all night, but also enabled me to take the medication solid for three years with no dose increase. I also had no problem coming off the ambien as doctor's had warned.
Looking back, it now coincides with the time the lyme went neuro and I went from insomnia to hyper-somnia, sleeping all the time. I never thought I'd long for those insomnia days, but sleeping for days and days on end has definately showed me a new kind of heck.

I take 450mg to 600mg of Trazadone each and every night and only get about 6 good hours, if that. I am never left in a fog of any kind whatsoever.
Maybe it will just take some time. I would at least give it another week or two before giving up on it.
I've taken many others and had the "fog", but, never, not once from Trazadone.
