I did one better...sent this to everyone on my mailing list who doesn't have Lyme, but knows what I've gone through.

Many have already done this for me and others are promising to do so today!

When you make it 'personal' some people are more likely to do it. In the heading, I put "I NEED YOUR HELP". Maybe that got their attn since I never ask for help.

Thanks for your push, Melanie!

Hiya folks
If it takes less than a minute to do this, please use the rest of the minute to send a huge hug to Melanie.

I know that so many people would want to do this, but couldn't figure out a short, sweet way to get the message across.

So, Melanie, a big hug coming your way from me.
Ellen

I received a letter in todays mail in response to my email sent to one of the contacts off the former list; letter from Joseph Bruno.

He said to "you may be interested to know that this legislation, bill S4148A is sponsored by my esteemed colleague, Senator Kemp Hannon, and you may want to conact him to register your support for this measure"

Guess it would help if I posted the link I found for Senator Kemp Hannon who also supports this:
http://www.senate.state.ny.us/Senatorbio.nsf/0/3b94a9926c30ff5c85256b1a00434285?OpenDocument

You can email him off this link. I already have.

Hi folks,
The letter from Bruno saying to contact Hannon as well is really funny.

We have sent I don't know how many groups in to meet with him I don't know how many times. Many, many. We have written to him and called him - probably thousands of calls and letters.

If ever a politician has heard from a group, Sen. Hannon has heard from us.

The result is that Hannon is on our side now! The bill was originally sponsored only by Sen. Seward, but now,in its third year, Hannon has decided to become a sponsor.

We kept calling him on June 21st which was originally supposed to be the last opportunity to get the bill passed this year. Those calls were to make sure Hannon would stand behind the bill and get it on the calendar for a vote - which he did.

So the word now from Albany is that Hannon gets it. He knows Lyme patients want this bill. Boy, does he know it!

So right now we are concentrating on getting Bruno solidly behind us, while other patient groups are contacting Hannon so that he knows there is widespread support from doctors and patients, not just Lyme.

The reason I am laughing about Bruno's letter is that I am imagining Senator Bruno now drowning under emails from Lyme patients and wanting to "share" some of this with Hannon.

Good for us!

Please keep writing to Gov. Pataki if you are not a New Yorker and please write to Bruno if you are a New Yorker.

I'll run Bruno's letter by some of those in Albany who are helping us and see if we need also to start writing Hannon again.
Ellen

Done.
Was speaking to Hubby about this subject this morning. He had an interesting suggestion(if it hasn't already been done).
He suggested that even though this is state legislation, it might not hurt to contact Hilary Clinton, since she has been somewhat of a health care champion and see if she can be gotten on board. Her influence may be beneficial. Just a thought.

Yea!

We can do this!

Lymenet has so many members, of we all take one minute to send..there will be significant contact generated.

Also..get creative..think of groups you can print the action up for in a flyer..churches, kids activities..any groups you have contact with..bring it to work. Most people are welcoming and willing to do this once made aware.

NY groups..contact Bruno as listed below, out of state, get on Pataki..

New York friends and family to
email him ASAP and urge him to support S4148a now!
Go to www.senatorbruno.com/send_email.asp
and there will be a form on which to send your email.

Lyme patients from across the country will be writing to Governor Pataki
with the hope that if we win his support, he will ask Senator Bruno to
put the bill on the calendar.

Mo

Crime of Lyme, I spoke to the lobbyist who said that if Bruno says to write to Hannon to pass S4148a, then we should go ahead and do it. http://www.senate.state.ny.us/Senatorbio.nsf/0/3b94a9926c30ff5c85256b1a00434285?OpenDocument

Our primary targets, however, remain Senator Bruno for New Yorkers to write to and Governor Pataki for everyone to wrte to.

Lymeandstilkicking (I hope I remembered your name correctly) please do go ahead adn write to Governor Pataki.

I can't say for sure exactly how much clout emails from out of country will have in getting S4148a passed. But it will certainly have a big impact in letting the Governor know just serious this Lyme problem is that people from all around the world are asking him to pass S4148a.

Suz-Q, some New Yorkrs have spoken to Hillary Clinton's staff about the OPMC issue and S414a. Unfortunately, the Senate and the Governor are both Repubican, so she has no power to get them to pass S4148a.

Thanks all. Please keep it up. Please write to the Gov. and ask anybody you have EVER known from NYS to contact Senator Bruno.

I'm from NY and I wrote to both Pataki and Bruno. Pretty new here, but sis-in-law has chronic Lyme and I've seen what she's gone through... and what I'm going through now to try to see an LLMD!

Awesome!

It's a numbers game. Anyone you can think of to forward the action to is worth it.

It is a simple task, so it doesn't feel funny to ask, and many people appreciate this kind of activism!

Ellenlu,
Didn't think about that(partisanship) in regards to Hilary. We sent her a lenghty e-mail with excerpts from Pat Smilth's, but since we are not NY residents, she does not have time to open it. Oh well, sounds like there are better avenues to take. Doing what we can from here.

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/026431.html

Please help in any way you can think of!
The thread has the details. NYers call Bruno, this takes one minute. (tell him to pass S4148, say for OPMC Reform..they ask for zipcode/county..)

All others keep e-mailing Pataki.
