I went to a support group today for sufferers of Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). They invite sufferers of Lyme as well. Two of us had Lyme Disease (LD). The other four had _diagnosed_ CFIDS.
I read in one of their brochures that CFIDS can mimic other diseases such as MS, Lupus, and Lyme Disease! I thought that was fascinating because everything I've read about LD on this site and elsewhere suggests that LD mimics CFIDS among others. So what's going on?
Here's another interesting observation. Every single one of the other non-LD sufferers remembers being bitten by a tick!! One of them worked with horses for a living. From his description, it sounded like his job was merely to pull ticks off of the horses; there were so many of them. Another person remembers getting the distinctive bulls-eye rash when she was bitten. But not a single one of them was ever tested for LD.
They said they may get tested now. I'd like to see which disease is mimicking which disease.

Well, here's one answer for you. CFIDS is a syndrome, SYNDROME and not a disease, so who's mimicking whom here...think about it.
I couldn't accept that I had a syndrome and kept searching 'til I came up with the right answer, Lyme Disease.
Of course the CFIDS and Fibro are mimicking LD for they are symptoms of LD. As for MS and Lupus, I believe that there are a lot misdiagnosis with those.
