Just talked to someone at Senator Bruno's Saratoga Springs office--she said she hadn't heard anything about S4148a. So here's her number if you want to get her up to speed.

Thanks so much, Liz, for posting this. And thanks for contacting Bruno's Saratoga Sprngs office to follow up.

I'm hoping, praying, that the reason the woman in Bruno's district offce has not heard of S4148a is because we have been mostly emailing to his office in Abany.

It would be too awful to believe that we haven't gotten enough people contacting Bruno for him to know we are here.

If that is so, then we really need to work harder.

Please, everyone, contact every New Yorker you know and have them contact Senator Bruno by going to www.senatorbruno.com/send_email.asp and filling out the form there to get an email to Senator Bruno. You can just say "Pass S4148a, the OPMC Reform bill," if you don't feel like writing a full letter.

We are primarily emailing now and will start calling in a few days. The thing is that that way , we can each get heard TWICE.

If you are not from New York State, please contact Gov. Pataki and ask him to pass S4148a. Since he hopes to run for president someday,
he is concerned about pleasing the rest of the country.

Thanks again, Liz and everybody here who has been working to get this bill passed.
Ellen

We have Bruno's attention. Again, I received a letter from him. I will type out the entire thing now:

The Senate
State of New York
ALbany 12247

Thank you for your recent correspondence in support for New York State Senate Bill 4148A, which would ensure a more equitable discipline process for physicians, physicians assistants and specialists assistants. ( huh???) I appreciate your initiatve to contact me on this important matter.

As you may be away, S.4148A remained under careful review in the legislative process at the conclusion of the Senate's regular 2004 Legislative Session. You may interested to know

that this legislation is sponsored by my esteemed colleague, Senator Kemp Hannon, and you may want to contact him to register your support for this measure.

Please be assured tha health care is a priority for my colleagues and me in the Senate Majority, and we have always gone

to great lenghts to ensure that New York State residents have access to quality, affordable health care. We fully understand

the need to have fair, equitable health care proceedings, not only for patients, but health care practioners as well. You can be

assureed that we will keep your suppport for S.4148A or similar legistlation, in mind when the Senate reconvenes.

Again, thank you for taking the time to advise me of your conscerns. Your input is an important part of he legislative process and I appreciate having the benefit of your views. You have my best wishes for the coming months.

Senator
Joseph L. Bruno
President Pro TEM
Majority Leader

Hey Jodie!

Yea, I guess a few of us have gotten this letter.

Ellen has referred to it in the other threads..this may have been automatically sent from the last batch of e-mails..I'm pretty sure..because mine came BEFORE I did my new e-mail.

Anyway..

The lobbyist here in Albany says to go ahead and contact hannon as well as is in the letter..but the main push right now is Ellen's action, with everyone contacting Pataki, and NYers focused on Bruno.

Here's the topic with that info..
