Here's the link for the discussion of this in Medical and, I think, that there are several posts over in General about this.

A step in the right direction. National recognition for the severity and life altering affects of chronic lyme.

I thought I heard them say 15,000 chronic cases of Lyme per year, not just a total of 15,000. That adds up to all of us here and then some...unfortunately.

Hi,The news thing was WONDERFUL it was exactually the proof we needed 1500 cases of incurable lyme per year. They made a distengtion between regular lyme and a newly discovered incurable form of lyme. Which is really just lyme. But they had to hedge the truth to help the ducks in the world avoid terrible lawsuits.I really think this will un leash a snow ball effect of lawsuits on bad ducks anyway. I thought it was okay. I didn't like it when he said "most cases you get a rash and a fever then you take abx and your fine." It's rarely that easy. As always, it was better than nothing.

how do we get a network or news show to do a whole block on it? (30-60 minutes)
That would be nice. There are plenty of patients here that would be more than willing to be on the news for such importants, I am sure of it!
It said nothing new, and may have been a little off, but......to the ones that think we are just plain OFF the rocker and CRAZY.......there you are! Hope they were watching!!!!!
But to the ones that I think I have peeked their interest, I hope it gives them the nudge they need to do some follow up investigating on this mean bug.

I had all kinds of reactions to this.
At first I was really pissed because they showed the chronic Lyme patient teaching exercise class. I thought no matter what they say about how sick she is, people are only going to remember her teaching exercise and think this can't be such a disabling illness.
But now that I think of what they said , it really was terrific. It just took it for granted that chronic Lyme exists - and that there are 15,000 new cases a year.
It would be nice if this was a turning point and we no longer had to listen to pompous ducks explaining that we are either nuts or have an auto immune problem. Ellen

I thought it was good in that 'chronic lyme' made headlines. I wish they would have used somebody who is crippled from this disease. Showing the teaching yoga made it seem like chronic lyme could be undone!
My cousin called me after the show and she said "how come you are not able to do physical things like teach yoga?" She was left with the wrong impression of this illness.
At least it made the nightly news. We need to have Dateline or 48 hours pick up 'chronic lyme' and dedicate more time to it.

I agree with you both! I was hoping for someone who wasn't leading a yoga class...perhaps somebody that couldn't walk very well, someone who would be seen as being more physically impaired. I also caught Dr. Bob's comment that "most of the time you will get a rash & bullseye..." Bullwinkies!!! Overall pleased for the national exposure and a great interview given by Kathy. Kudos are in order for NBC, perhaps this will encourage more primetime coverage.

I can see all your points about this woman teaching dance on TV etc.
But, they did say that she has improved after antibiotics and other treatments - SO - it's is also possible that this shows that these treatments are valid and should not be poo-pooed, that they get people BETTER.
Hopefully, it will make the run-of-the-mill docs who viewed it realize that thinking outside the box isn't a bad idea if they want to help people.

I thought Dr. Fallon looked really tired. Understandably. If only the Columbia center were fully funded, it would take a load off his mind, I'm sure.
Why are we having such trouble raising this money? Lyme is in the most exclusive neighborhoods in the NE; people with power and money have it. Martha Stewart has had it several times she says. So, why is it so hard to find $3 million dollars. Some benefactor gave Johns Hopkins $100 million to study malaria, a disease not even in this country.
Makes no sense to me.

Lou Maybe the Lyme Community needs to make more noise. Why don't we all send e-mails to someone like Oprah telling about crooked insurance, ducks that don't know how or just won't treat, prejudice from teachers, employers, etc., the reform bill in NY state about the OPCM and other Lyme issues and see if we can persuade a segment. Sounds like a good show to me.

Good discussion. Just finally got on net happy to see some had been able to watch.
My hopes were same when I posted about Lou Dobbs having a program on Lyme. Reasoning to send in the e-mails, hit hard & be honest on the opinions besides for thanking.
When I e-mailed Lou Dobbs, he had a much better true coverage about expensive, destroying families lives, govt. not stepping in. It was longer for those who did not catch few months back.E-mail for follow up... He has alot of $$$$ & clout...
Almost everything I e-mailed they had a week later on follow up show. Not saying it was just my e-mail, sure many were on same order.
Mostly he addressed what I asked for.
So lets keep up on these 2 that have had program adressing lyme, Please...
I was watching it while on phone with another lymie.
Think we were both smidge disappointed how short it was after all the ads on it. SO maybe we can push the envelope.
My case like many has never been reported. I also wish it was that easy. Showing here bedridden, to teaching arobics, gives false coverage, what most have to go through.
My wish is all these things, silly stuff, Martha S. etc. Too much coverage.
Just give us a 1 0r 2 min. of that couple times a week. Instead of all the programs same stuff, not as devasting, not to add costly. If we could only get in on that wasted time. Rehashing same old subject.
When we have such a overwhelming epidempic if alot of these autoimmune are truly Lyme. That figure was prob. from CDC only.
All I can say hopefully 1 Big step for mankind each time we can get some primetime coverage.
Keep those e-mails going.
I also noticed on the View, when they brought up lyme ticks for summertime insect bites. Star Jones, briefly if anyone caught it, she turned to Meredith V, said you know someone. Then was interupted.
Did anyone catch that happened so fast about mo. or so ago?????
Very Interesting, But only Star, reads her e-mail. So I immediately e-mail her because she made a comment about lyme being bad stuff.
