lish had this treatment for the first month, then was switched to Mepron due to some eye issues... But quinine is the drug of choice for intracellular parasites...(babesia, malaria)

Got Clindamycin only alone, not with Quinine, but I recommend you to keep a strict anti-yeast diet while you take it. It causes yeast faster than you can spell it.

My LLMD prescribed clindamycine and quinine for 7 days. It didn't hit me until about the fifth day. I felt some nausea and general ickiness. Nothing unusal I was assured.
This regimen didn't put me over the top right away(nothing really did) but over time I have gotten better and like to think that the week on clind/quin.was worth it. I hope it is for you too.

Thanks for the response i took my first dose this am. Each day i have to increase it and then add the quinine. If the doc hadnt said that i wouldnt have got so nervous.
Thanks about the info on sugar i will be sure to watch it.
The pharmacy said its a heavy hitter. I will be on it for quite a while i guess.
I was on quinine with zithromax (i know the zithro sounds like a weird combo with it) - but anyways i didn't have any problems with the quinine. i was waiting for my insides to combust but it didn't happen. I was on it for about 2 1/2 months. Now I have switched to mepron/zithro combo.

I am to do the same protocol but have been putting it off--trying right now to keep fighting the brain issues---
Will have to start it soon--can't put it off much longer so am very interested -- even tho'we are all soooo different.
I am scared only because I am spleenless-have immune disorders big time--and over the age. They warn you in the literature about these 3 things but Dr, C. doesn't seem worried.
He should know-but sorta nervous.
Thanks and I so hope you will do well--bet you will-

I thought mepron and zith or biaxin, along with artemisinin was the new babs protocol. Is quinine and clyid new or old, or just as good, or is each of us different.

Well day one nothing but being tired today but figure i went a lot. Other than that nothing. Figure i dont have enough in my system tomarrow will be two pills third day i will start quinine with it.
I believe these are older protocals. Much cheeper than Mepron. But i think Mepron is the drug of choice. But i cant afford six hundred bucks a pop. No insurance.
Dr c's method i assume is much easyer. I was still nervous tho because of the other docs not treating.

Hey Chocolate. Well i took two pills today. I felt really, really tired. I tried to fold towels and my arms were so weak i had to stop and rest them a lot. Slight headache and notice im getting that goofy ringing.
But i have had that all along so dont think its related to the meds.
Will see how tommarrow goes will take three pills and also take the quinine pill. I will post tommarrow evening that way i can tell ya everything for the day.
So far so good tho. The fatigue is something i have had with lyme from time to time if i over do or just a bad day. So hard to tell yet if this is from the med. Altho it didnt come until about an hour after i took it.

I was on the Dr C's Clindamycin protol for many months with only mild herxing.
Believe me, Dr. C would give you absolutely nothing that you should be worried about. He's the greatest and knows his stuff.
I think that your first doctor was wrong and if he were "right" then wouldn't you, still, be seeing him.
Dr. C has many years and hundreds and hundreds of patients and specializes in the treatment of TBIs. Trust him and re-read his handouts on this subject. It could lend itself to you not worrying so much. First do no harm.
However, if the herxes get bad, DR. C does state to go off the abx at the first sign of a herx and then you can just restart it in a couple of days and things should be better. And, don't forget to just call his office anytime you think there is a problem. Either he or his staff will be able to reassure that no one has died because of his treatment of TBIs.
And, I forgot, with the rotation of the ten days on and the ten days off, it should take care of "these meds were very hard treatment" mentality. One has to know how to prescribe them. If you were taking them straight with no days off, then, that may be what that first doc was referring to when he stated the above statement.

Thank you Rosemary i am very satisfied with Dr C.
Now this is strange i dont understand it. But this is the third day i woke up feeling different cant say how but improvement. No Giant steps but different feeling.
I am also Taking Vitamine C I had and intestianal problem which is via Vitamine C being corrected nicely. Also i Have got rid of a lot of fluid to strange.
Does Babesia effect your bladder? Anyway i took all three doses of meds. I got sleepy again and had some headache. I took the dose of Quinine with the third pill of Cly. and Nothing nope nothing.
BUT i feel somewhat better. Again Not leaps and bounds i just cant pin point it. My head wants to hurt a tiny bit. But its been almost three hours so figure if meds was gonna get me down i would already know it.
BOY maybe its the vitamine c maybe the babesia i have no clue but even a tiny bit of better is like a GOLD NUGGET FROM HEAVEN. I will take what ever i get when ever i get it. Check back tommarrow Chocolate

Okay this is the fifth day. Took three cly and one of the quinine.
Started out feeling actually better accept for the joint pain and muscle pain.
Then took meds and had lots of company i think the interaction kinda made today harder with the meds. Tried to cook and got to weak to stand. Got nausea a tiny bit to i think from sitting up so long. It did pass.
Chocolate are you starting your meds. So far this doesn't seem bad maybe im not as loaded with babesia i dont know or maybe it will get worse but up to now its been do able. To me not as bad as the lyme herxes.
However i think im doing other things to like getting the poison out. Before i drank diet coke and very little water. Now i drink no diet coke and almost a gallon of coolaid with splenda for sweetner. I think i probably am flushing the toxins. If babesia does that. Either way so far so good its doable. Puts me in bed tho makes me weak and fatigued.

Hi graneet, this is the zman. I went from two months straight ceftriaxone daily dose and right into IV clindamycin. They gave it to me thru one of those machines that dosed me every eight hours around the clock. My doc and I did'nt know about adding quinine so we did'nt add that wwweeelll almost immediately I felt pretty bad and it never let up till I had to pull the picc line out due to a very yeasty rash around the picc line site. I had diahrea and gastro problems. Then I developed some calf muscle pain. This stuff seemed to exacerbate my already scheduled for replacement left knee and I do believe the sciatica pain down my left buttock and leg had something to do with the abx.
Perhaps you won't run into these problems doing it the way you are. But back in 2001 they gave me one iv of clindamycin and orals to clear up some cellulitis infection(I told them it was my six month major flareup time) but of course they did'nt listen to me cuz they were'nt llmds. Anyway I became manic and had the runs that time also...
Glad to hear you're not experiencing the crap I went thru with this abx. Maybe you're right about the leftover bacillis or whatever is at a minimum...hope that's true for you cuz if my nurse had'nt recommended pulling the picc line I would have done it anyway...to harsh the way I took it...
Good luck and keep us posted the zman P.S. You may want to check with the pharmacist because Vitamin C sometimes interferes with some types of abx's abilities to work to the maximum. ------------------

Thank you for the info on the vitamine c i will call today.
Had company yesterday and man am i whipped today. So far meds arnt real bad i dont feel like doing anything but i didnt before treatment either. Maybe my load isnt as bad as most so im not being effected as bad with the meds. When i take the quinine i hardly notice any change. Tastes major nasty bitter unless i eat something. I hate to eat when im not in the mood yuck.
I do seem to notice some continual symptoms. Tireness, muscle weakness, headache Increased joint pain. These three i get every time i take the meds.
I guess im so use to the aweful herx's i had from lyme meds i keep expecting them To do me the same.
I did notice yesterday i had a very hard time talking to family i layed back in my recliner to visit with my kids and grandkids but I wanted to run to the bedroom and lay flat. Even talking can be so tiring sometimes.
Thanks again for the heads up on the vitmine c I just thought it was bad with doxy.
Will report later. Posting this for Chocolat she requested it and those who are interested but she asked. Not trying to keep this post going for myself LOL.

I took clindamycin/quinine for well over a year, rotating with the Lyme meds every ten days. My first round of it resulted in a herx so severe that I could hardly function.
So if you get really bad, STOP the meds! I didn't and was so bad that I couldn't take anything for 2 months! It also included a trip to the ER.
I think I still have some babs issues....I'm taking artemisinin.
Oh, BTW....according to Dr C's data, his patients have had better results with the clinda/q than with mepron/zith.
graneet.....if that ringing gets bad, you need to cut back or stop the Q...call his office!

I feel like im total backwards. Rose i had the ringing its not actually in my ears its like the back of my head. I had it way before i ever started this protocal. Actually it went away the other day. But today its back light.
Wonder if i dont have babesia im not having the reaction all of you do. But i do notice feeling bad. Gee HOW DO you know what is to bad of a herx??? For those who are Doc C.
Its hard for me to know what is bad now i have stayed sick for so long I feel bad all the time.
I have been in bed all the time anyway. Now i know when i had lyme herxes i got this all over horrible feeling HURT worse i mean it was bad. Barely could walk.Sever Head stuff.
This gives me headache off and on. Muscle weakness like cant fold towels with out muscles tiring out. Joint pain increased off and on.
I will watch it Rose thanks. I dont want to over do it but not sure at this point where my over do point is. Should i quit now cause im feeling anything?? OR wait until it gets worse??
