Sorry guys to keep harping on.

I took 1/2 a dose about 1.5 hours ago and after 1/2 hour I suddenly felt sleepy, then heart started going like crazy, feel weak in waves and feeling of heat moving up and down body...........nausea a bit also and very very weird - lack words to describe.

I had loads of fat with my bulky breakfast (at least 25 gms).

I just did a serach and see that herxing on Mepron is not what happens.

So, what is this near instant reaction I am having? Is this normal and to be expected at the beginning.

Is is me just "adjusting" to this, or side-effect (my leaflet only says nausea, diarrhea, dizziness as side effects and if any unusual weakness to call the doctor).

I don't want to call a doctor unnecessarily as here in the UK it's a miracle my doctor is on my side on this - but all he needs is for me to have one bad reaction and he'll probably not help anymore.

Help!

Well, after only a couple of hours, it seems to have passed, whatever that was.

Just hope it doesn't come on again after 2nd dose.

Sorry to have posted this, now perhaps un-necessarily as it blew over.

DLL:

I have been on Mepron for 5 months now and I still get nauseas, dizzy a little short of breath and alternating hot/chills about an 1-1/2 hours after taking a dose. It is like a mini-herx that lasts for a couple of hours, then passes. I remember that the 2nd month I would have the feeling for days.

I didn't want to panic either so I just rode it out. I would venture to say that the Mepron is working. But, don't heistate to call your MD if you get an irregular heartbeat or your blood pressure drops really low. No sense in being stoic if you are unsure.

It does get better.

I get the same exact reaction. My dizziness from it is constant.

Mepron crosses the BBB VERY easily, which may be why all the symptoms.

I havent been as adventorous yet to work up to two tsp per day. No way

Hi,

Ed, if it's an allergic reaction - would it blow over in a couple of hours do you think?

Beachcomber and COL - I did read quite feel people feel dizzy. I didn't have that, just feeling of heat, palpitations, weakness mostly, with a touch of nausea a couple of times.

I've been fine now for about 2 hours, after about 2 hours of feeling like that.

Im not on mepron but i am on quinine and clyindimicn and i get those same things i think it is a herx reaction.

After the meds get into my system i get very tired muscles feel weak, I have hot cold sensations, I have headache, sometimes nausea lots of water tho with mine helps.

I think its a herx but will let others who are on mepron answer.

I only feel this way when i take my meds or when they have got into my system about hour later. I do notice some residule tho even if i havent taken them. Yesterday i didnt take my first dose and went to town and felt puny anyway. Think its because i still had some in my system.

Graneet glad it passed

I take mepron 2 tsp twice a day plus other meds for babs and I have a similar reaction after taking a dose. I improve by about 8 hours later.

The only thing I would mention is that I take two meds for my heart to keep the beat regular. I don't have any heart disease; my heart doc thinks it's just a nerve conduction defect from Lyme. So I take a beta blocker (called Toprol) and an ACE inhibitor (called moexipril) and this way I don't start feeling anxious about weird heartbeats.

Graneet,

It did pass, but it's come back again now - about 9 hrs later.

I felt really sleep mid-afternoon, napped for 2 hours, woke up and feel similar to this morning.

I faxed my LLMD explaining what happened this morning with suddenly feeling weak, palpitations, feeling like waves of heat moving up and down body, etc ......I asked:
I just need to know it's expected that I can feel like this so quickly after taking Mepron.

The response was: unexpected but ok.

Then I had another email from someone I trust on stuff like this, saying this really doesn't sound like a Mepron reaction, you just check with your doc.

So, I have checked........but now am totally unsure whether it's a die-off reaction, or like my body went into some sort of shock.

I think I will not take my evening dose and try again tomorrow morning with half-dose.

dll...be cautious about the possibility of an allergic reaction.....

BUT....
Sounds just like my herxes on clindamycin/quinine for babs. I herxed so badly, I ended up in the ER. My heart rate went bananas and I had extreme weakness and heart palpitations.

I'm still taking atenolol for the tachycardia and palps. It helps.

Would an allergic reaction come on quick, but then improve?

I didn't/don't have any breathing problems or itching or rash - which I thought were part of an allergic reaction(???)

I am so scared of taking my next dose, I think I will skip night dose and do it again in the morning.
