Hi,

I've been taking Cat's Claw for a couple of months and I had a herx this week. Has anyone else had herxs on Cat's Claw?

Mark

Hi Mark,

My husband has only been taking the regular, cheap, Cat's Claw by Source Naturals. He started at l,000 mg & he had severe dizziness; so he cut the tablet in half.

We're still waiting on our order for TOA-Free Cat's Claw. In the meantime, we resorted to purchasing him the Souce Naturals 500 mg caplets. It also causes insomnia----be sure & take in the morning.

Anyway, that's all he can handle right now. I can't imagine what the TOA-FREE Cat's Claw by Allergy Research/Nutricology will do to him.

Wish I could offer more help.
Take Care,
Jan

Hi MarkP,

I have been taking Samento for two months. I started with 1 drop once per day of the tincture. I had terrible herxes (a lot of neuro) to the point where I had to stop and do some detox before I could continue.

When I started back, my herxing was much less and now I'm taking 20 drops 2x/day. I'm actually starting to feel better than I've felt in a long, long time.

RECIPEGIRL, if you hubby has only been taking the regular kind, be very, very cautious if what you are getting is similar to the Samento. At 1 drop 1x/day it put me in bed for 3 straight days when I first started taking it.

I couldn't remember ANYTHING from one second to the next, couldn't concentrate, had an extreme brainsplitting migraine with no let up for the whole 3 days, nausea, dizziness sinus pressure, burning in nose and more. This all started within 30 minutes of taking that one drop, so I have no doubt it was a herx.

Just wanted to give you that word of caution cause someone (thank goodness) told me to be careful. I'm the type to just go and put like 4-5 drops in a glass and take it. Sooooooooooo glad I didn't do it this time.

Thanks Cat,
I'll pass this along to my husband.

That's incredible you had such a die-off with l drop/per day. WOW-------! That would scare me.

Glad it's working a little easier for you now.
Take Care,
Jan

Possibly because I am 40+, think I was born with it or at least contracted it at a very early age, and was only diagnosed in April/May 2004. Never been treated, haven't taken any antibiotics for anything in at least the past 15-20 years.

My doc never offered me any treatment for any complaint I had other than Prozac (which I refused). For a long time, I would go see specialists, etc. Every test came back "normal." Every single doc & specialist I ever saw told me it was my nerves or in my head.

So when I switched PCPs and did not have any better results, for many years I just gave up and quit going to the doc for anything and either toughed out whatever was wrong with me or searched out alternative treatments/herbs/supplements that might help me.

P.S. I can assure you I was both scared & shocked at the reaction I had. The only thing I can think is that my bug load must be so high after all this time. No wonder I have had so many health problems. I feel blessed that I am not worse than I am.

I take Prima Una De Gato (TOA-Free Cats Claw from Allergy Research). It's important that you take TOA-Free.

I herxed on DAY ONE on only 1/4 of the capsule. Monstrously tired, neck pain, dizziness, chills, sweats, dizziness within an hour of taking it. I called my LLMD who said, "yup, herx".

I waited a few days and upped the Milk Thistle for detox, and tried again. I kept at the 1/4 capsule for a week, and increased it by 1/4 each week until I reached full capsule (375mg).

My aches and pains are SOOO much better for it, and my sinuses and allergies haven't been this clear in years.

Hi lymeinhell,

Do you take the milk thistle and the cat's claw on the same days?

Do you take the milk thistle every day?

Do you take the milk thistle separate from or at the same time as the cat's claw?

Thanks for any help,

CAT

I started TOA-free claw twice, last Nov. and then again this Jan. The first time, I took 20mg of saventaro and went into a huge neuro herx within an hour. It caused these spooky nightmares, oversleeping, brain fog, anxiety--the works. So I stopped and waited until I had a free week to go through all this, then did 60mg every day. It turned my recovery around, and I'm still on it. Although it's hardly a cure-all, it does reduce neuro symptoms and fevers, and can shorten an impending relapse. It's great stuff.

I'm also taking the Saventaro, the TOA free kind of Cat's Claw. I'm taking 60 mg per day. My doc had given me a copy of a study published in the journal Nature (I think) that showed good results with Lyme patients. I wasn't really expecting much, so the herx was a surprise.
