My doctor just prescribed this drug for me this week. I usually go to bed around 6pm and sleep right up till about 7:30am. Then while i'm at work during the day the only thing i can think about is going to bed. I have been on this med. for a couple of days and i can honestly say i feel like i could run a marathon. I haven't felt this amazing in a long time!!! It's even helping me emotionally, I was getting so depressed because I couldn't do anything anymore.
Let me know how you make out. I hope it works as well for you.

I tried all the stimulants back when they thought it was narcolepsy. Provigil isnt technically a stimulant but it does perk you if it works for you

I couldnt take any of them. I tried to take provigil for 2 to 3 weeks. The first time it gave me the worst headache I ever had and I use to have migrains when younger. I kept trying to ease into it but never could get to the point where I got any benefit, just headache and still no go powerr.

My biggest ?? about these kind of drugs is are we enabeling our bodies to function far and above what they should and will this eventually cause more long term damage? Mother nature might be giving us this debilating fatigue so our bodies cant overdo and we can use whatever energy we have to heal. At least that thought gives me some comfort while I am the blob on the sofa.

It made me very wIreY. I felt like I drank a six pack of Red Bull & eat a 1/2 dozen Snickers.

I switched to ENADA NADA which is tamer & doesn't require an Rx.

Thanks for all the input...
I guess it's like everything else each person has a different reaction to this stuff. For me it gives me a little jittery feeling...something I got away from with lexapro but not too bad. No headache but while I was takeing it with oxycontin for pain I got severe dry mouth not to mention throat dryness that developed into kind of a scab on the back of my throat...I coughed up blood one morning and stopped the oxycontin...I really have a problem with that pain killer anyway...major constipation and it seems to dry up all my mucous membranes and I retain water and get as big as a blimp...gonna have to try something else for pain.

The provigil seems to have lost some of it's punch nervous energy wise and it seems to be regulating my sleep pattern to where I am sleeping at night when I am supposed to. I have'nt had these many hours asleep in a row for eight years or so...
I guess it's doing it's job well enough and I have'nt gotten any side effects that I can denote as being really bothersome like a few of you have...finally a drug that is doing what it's supposed to without major side effects...for me anyway...this and lexapro so far are two of the many things I have tried to take symptomatically that are actually doing what I want...
I understand the concern for masking symptoms such as fatigue and anxiety/depression...and I know I am probably going against nature and the disease...I'm just trying to have some kind of life other than laying on the couch all day at least 15 to 20 days a month. As long as I'm sleeping 7 to 8 hours a night I think I'll keep using the provigil. Now all I need is a good pain killer that does'nt constipate me so bad, nor counteract the other two meds I'm taking...I'm using oxycodone right now and it seems to be doing the job...does'nt rid me of all pain but enough to get some things done durring the day. It allows me to have a sufficient bm in the morning when the drug has left my system for a night.
I know a lot of lyme folks go with motrin and I may try that next. Methadone has helped me in the past and I may have to go back to it if the motrin does'nt work too well.
Thanks again for the info the zman
