I wasn't diagnosed with a mental disorder specifically. But, I had one MD ask me if I was a hypochondriac. And another told me I had a panic disorder and handed me a pamphlet on Paxil. A positive Lyme test finally convinced one of them that I wasn't making up the strange things that were happening to my body, like breaking out in a drenching sweat or falling over from dizziness. I'm sure I am not the only one who baffled an MD with this "nutty" disease.

I believe that most of us who were diagnosed awhile ago, and some of us recently, were told at one time or another.."it is all in your head"....or, I think you have to see a psychiatrist.

A few times went I went to the ER for LD related problems-even with positive testing-I was sent home on Xanax....GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Or, if someone gets a diagnosis with the word "pseudo" in front of it, it means fake! This happened to me twice! I have myoclonus from LD-a movement disorder that a lot of us have.

These docs who give the instant psych diagnosis do not know what they are talking about. I was told by an LLMD that most docs give this diagnosis to pass the person on out of their practice, if they do not know what is wrong with the patient. It gets them "off the hook".

LD can CAUSE mental problems, and cognitive problems, and in the worst cases, Lyme Psychosis. This is the diagnosis that one of my doctors was given by his own doctor's explanation at his funeral, after he killed himself!

I met one woman who was institutionalized in a psych ward until someone in the know had the info to get this woman tested-and thank goodness she came up positive! She was sucessfully treated, and was doing quite well when I met her.

Most people have neuro problems that GO AWAY with long term antibiotics. some of us have some symptoms left over...i am one of them.

Of course, some people do have psych problems not related to LD, but if they show many symptoms of LD, it is doubtful!

What is your story?
