Thank you so much everyone for your advice! Tincup, I was wondering if you could provide clarification for your extremely helpful advice:
1) Is the Chiro Neuro in NYC that you had in mind called Scott Theirl?
2) Is going to a Chiro Neuro different than going to someone for cranial sacral therapy? If so, which would you suggest as a best bet?
3) Do you know if there is a preferred method of testing for yeast in the throat? I thought that I'd ask...

Thank you so much--we're so stuck, and really scared--this means so much!

Good morning..

Do me a favor if you will please, please, please...

TRY... and I know it is hard... real hard... but TRY not to be scared. My heart breaks to hear this.. and I know all too well how that feels.

TRY, please, not to worry. The stress that worrying brings can't be doing much to make anyone feel better.

Heck...

If worry cured Lyme.. I would have been cured YEARS ago!

I do believe stress kicks our butt and stands in the way of recovery... and/or can bring on a relapse.

And again.. I KNOW it is easy for me to sit here and say "don't worry, be happy"... and it is a VERY hard thing to do... but know in your minds you are on the right road and things WILL get better. Otay?

Oh.. and also know that I doubt there is ANYONE here who hasn't felt the same at some point. So you are NOT the weirdo-freaks I may have made you think you are... but... you MAY be weirdo freaks anyhow for other reasons... so I am not ruling that out totally either... hehehe

Now that I have over stepped my bounds and jumped into your morning bowl of frosted flakes.... and it is ONLY because I don't want to see you scared... and because we care...

You didn't know this... but...

Please do me another favor. Edit out the name of the doctor on the board.. ok? We try NOT to put their names here unless we have permission. Thanks. And the answer to that qustion is yes, by the way.

The chiro neuro would be the same as going to a full fledged neurologist and a full fledged chiropractor (that is what they are actually)... BUT... instead of using drugs or surgery to cover up symptoms... or to force symptoms into compliance ... chiro-neuro's are using natural things to help the brain be kicked back into gear and relieve the problems. It is using the brains own power to make you better.

It is difficult to explain... so maybe I can use examples.

First of all.. no pain is felt at all when this is done (a BIG bonus after all we have been through)... and no drugs or surgery are done.

Let's pretend your brain is an apple.

OK... Pretend you cut an apple right down the center from stem to stern... and end up with two halves.

Hold the right half in the right hand... and the left half in the left hand.

Now hold those two halves together in a normal fashion... like the original apple.

When the body gets sick.. or is traumatized... ESPECIALY for long periods of time..... to protect itself after injury or infection.. the brain will slow down the normal brain processes and cut off normal functioning.

Both halves of the brain slow down or stop. Sometimes more things coming from the left side of the brain are shut down... sometimes the right. Soooo.. the halves are not lining up and working together.

Kinda like the post by Buggy the other day where he walked around with something in his hand and didn't know it was there.

After a long bout with illness... the apple halves have slipped or shut down so much that they are found laying in the floor... barely able to survive.

If you start getting better (kill off the infections)... the apple halves may try to reassemble themselves to be on equal functioning levels. Or basically.. be a whole apple again.

BUT.. too many things have been shut down and the brain has a hard time "getting it's act together".

So.. the apple halves MIGHT be able to get up off the floor... let's say about 2 feet or so... but it is no where NEAR getting back in one piece and no where near getting back on the original tree (fully functioning).

Many times ONE half of the brain will function a bit better.. but the other half is sluggish. Many Lyme patients have a problem with one side being worse than the other.. this can happen... and it is because of the brain.

This low functioning level makes muscles not work together.. the eyes not work together.. the hormones, the bones.. the thinking proceses... the walking gait, the balance, etc. etc. Not much is happening to help YOU.. even though the body tries.

Also.. for example.. the tongue. I can't remember who had the tongue post or swallowing post recently? Not sure it was you.. but for example.. 1/2 of my tongue was paralyzed. This was making it hard to swallow or talk right... taste my food.. etc.

What the chiro neuro does is painless LIGHT adjustments or exercises to jump start the sections of the brain that are not working.

He stimulates the sections of the brain that have shut down so they will kick back into gear and allow the body to function again.

So... instead of two halves of apples sitting on the floor.. the body and brain can NOW work together and make it back to the original shape... a whole apple on the tree.

And please don't think I use this strange example because I don't thik you would understand the technical stuff.

I myself DON'T understand the technical stuff enough to translate it better than this right now... so I appologise for the examples used.

The chiro neuro is trained in MANY fields... some use acupuncture.. which I don't use.. eye rehab stuff.. nutritional things, yeast problems, ... etc. etc. So... it is kinda like "one stop shopping" for the brain and body. My choice would be the chiro neuro for your situation... and if this doctor suggests cranial/sacral therapy and can't do it himself.. well... hmmmm... wait...

My thought is.. with his help... the cranial sacral problems will fix themselves.

To show you how amazing this help was...

I was bouncing off walls... literally. I was unable to stand or walk right.. I couldn't think... couldn't see right.. and had MULTIPLE problems. Actually my symptoms list was 19 pages long.

With good antibiotics I could reduce symptoms somewhat.. BUT.. with the additional help I was able to reduce my symptom list to maybe 2-4 pages.. and nearly everything... if it wasn't gone completely... was improved.

And I am a "hard sell". Several years before this... you couldn't have paid me to go to a chiropractor... or drug me there with a team of mules.

And my head would have expoded at the thought of going to a NEUROLOGIST! I think most of them basically suck... and I told the person who tried to get me to go there this exact thing. (It was a doctor by the way, HA!)

Anyhow..

If NOTHING else.. they do a complete exam... much more extensive than I have ever had or have ever heard of. They identify SO many problems I KNEW I had but no one would listen to me long enough to understand them... and no one would or could address.

If nothing else.. having the documentation will help with insurance and disability issues should they arise. To me.. that alone was able to confirm what I had been saying and there was a solution FINALLY to many problems.

For you to not try this would be rather sad for me. I don't recommend doctors easily... and think most are HORRIBLE... but when it comes to this situation we are in... I think they are a must.

I have sent a number of folks to them in the past.. some to your doc.. some to some of the other docs. I have seen great results...and so have many others. This is basicaly their speciality. Not Lyme.. but the problems caused by it.. or for whatever reason.

Now... I am losing steam...

HA! Ain't you glad! hehehe

Yeast.

Oh... one more thing...

I woke up one morning about a year or so ago... and had Bells palsy. Just out of the blue... after 16 plus years dealing with this.

I called MY chiro neuro.. He gave me some hoe dunk stupid things to do to try and fix it.

My instuctions were basically to sit in a chair that spins and turn in a certain direction. Then to stimulate one side of the roof of my mouth by rubbing it with my tongue or finger.

YES.. I thought he had totally lost his mind.

I have never seen anyone with Bels palsy have it go away on it's own in one day.

Surprisingly... actually shocking... I woke the next day and it was gone.

If he was able to fix it.. or it was a rare fluke.. I don't know?

And I still won't say that fixed it cause it seemed to simple and too stupid of a thing... but it WAS gone.

Ok.. yeast.

There is a systemic blood test.. I personallly think doesn't catch it all. They may be able to swab and send it off?

My thought is just treat it. Cut out sugar.

Use Nystatin mouth rinse and/or Nystatin or Diflucan pills. Keep in mind if it is yeast.. you will feel like you have the flu from the die off.. but the thinking process will improve once the die off symptoms subside and so may other symptoms. I wouldn't waste $$ on tests... chances are if this hasn't been addressed at a rigerous pace... it could be affecting him.

Hope this helps!
