Hi!
Went to the doc today to ask about having an MRI and she said that the headaches sounded like stress headaches.I was so disappointed although I suppose I shouldn't have been as she is not lyme literate.

I just want an MRI to eliminate all other sinister stuff.

I don't think a stress headache would last for 4 to 5 months .I don't think you would wake in the night ,in the morning etc.Do You???

I am really sick of people not understanding or knowing.I probably have nothing else but the head explosions and headache,it would be nice to know for sure. How can she just say that without testing??/

Very cranky,Sue.

I went years with migraines and other unbearable pains in the head and eyes before running into a doc who suggested I have an MRI and see an neuro.

Since then, I have had 3 MRI's. It is nice to at least have one more piece of the puzzle to work with.

I am not sure what to tell you about getting a doc who will co operate.

My experience is that if they aren't on the same page at the beginning, they usually never do get on the same page and it is a lot of frustration and wasted time.

Would it be possible for you lyme specialist to request your other doc to ask for an MRI?

Hello!
Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone-I have had dull headaches for months and now they are becoming worse and pain in the back of my head and also hoping my doc will order an MRI, but I'm sure I'll get the same response from my general md.

I was going to suggest to you to try to get your LLMD to refer you for an MRI, I think that's my next step also. The uncertainty of what's going on is really scary and I really need that peace of mind right now too!

I wish you luch and keep me posted because I am having the same concerns right now!

tell your doc that you are stressed because you can't get the MRI to give you information about your headaches, which are in fact causing you stress, and could in fact be caused by stress, but that you aren't going to be any less stressed out just on her/his word and that you want a test.

I had a duck tell me that my headaches were stress also. I could not understand it because at that point in my life I was stress free. The most stressful thing I had to do was tie my shoes. I told him that very line and he gave me a rx anyway.

My son had an MRI back in Oct. 04 when this whole thing started. It showed the typical lesions in the white matter, blah, blah.

Our LLMD ordered an MRI about 2 weeks ago and it looks exactly the same. Interesting enough, the neurologist who performed the first MRI, said the MRI was indicative of lyme.

Sue,

If your LLMD will not order it then try another doc and ask friends or family for a referral to a new doc.

Last year I had a headache for several months and they did the MRI and found a white spot which radiologist said could be caused by an infection.

This was all before a lyme dx in August and yes as every one has mentioned headaches are a definitely a symptom.
