I was talking to my dads ex-wife the other day. She has a degree in herbology and was telling me to make sure I don't take Vitamin C with any of the abx.

Supposedly Vitamin C weakens the effects of abx.

I talked to her daughter later that day, and she told me to ignore her because her mom "doesn't know as much as she thinks she does".

So . . . has anyone else heard this about Vitamin C?

I heard that about vitamin C. Stopped taking it about 3 months into my oral abx.

Hopefully someone knowledgeable will come along and explain why, as I cannot remember!

it is not a good idea to take buffered C with an abx because the vitamin C is usually buffered with magnesium and calcium.

The magn. and calc. interfere with abx absorption.

Hey there slcd,
Yes I have read where vitamin C and sometimes calcium may hinder some abx's from being absorbed into the body...

You may want to do a search up at the top of the page and just put your question up there and hit search...I'm sure this has been covered a few times in the past...the search is a handy tool to answer a lot of questions that seem to come up all the time on this board...I use it all the time it saves me time and board space and waiting to get someone to answer my queries...just a helpful hint.................the zman
