Hi everyone,

I'm being confused. Maybe some of y'all can unconfuse me.

If you stop taking the abx for a few weeks to a month will you lose any benefit gained by having taken them for 6-8 weeks prior?

I'm asking because I'm already being treated but when I made an appt with an out of state LLMD the receptionist told me I needed to be off of abx for 10 days to two weeks before I went in so I could be tested.

I'm the one who lives in Colo. and was diagnosed by a dermatologist using my symptoms (was in NY in late June, had fever, muscle ache etc in early July, had a spreading EM by end of July)at the very end of July. I'm now on Adoxa (doxy) 400 mg/day and have a prescription that will last until mid-sept. That will be about 5 and half weeks at 400 mg/day and 9 days at the beginning at 200 mg/day.

Since I can't tell if the fatigue and muscle aches that I'm experiencing now are side fx of the abx or if they are symptoms of the LD, I'm not sure if I'm getting better or not.

I don't want to lose ground by going off the abx...ack I'm confused-have I confused you too?

Also if any of you want to give me your opinions of LLMD's in the Dutchess/Westchester County, NY area. I've already made an appt but I'm also confused about how to choose among the LLMD's there or perhaps someone in Missouri or Las Vegas/Penn. I know you can't post this on the board so please email me:
[email protected]

Thanks!

Shanna

Dr Charles Crist in Springfield Mo( only put his name out because he doesnt care). Is a very good doctor very knowledgeable in the field. As well as many other qualitys.

Now he says to take break if you are herxing severly thats a no no . He said some have even taken a month off so they could feel better before going back to it.
my concern was concern the meds wouldnt work when i went back but they do.
If they dont most likely they would have quit anyway.

Hi Shanna,

I have been off abx to have tests done and I didn't loose any ground. I could actually tell how far I had come, but I did need to go back on them.
I hope this has helped some.

Hi Beverly,

Thanks for your response...I was afraid that it would be harmful for me to go off the abx even for a short time.
