I just finished 12 weeks of iv Rocephin. My LLMD is now starting me on Ketek.

Has anyone tried Ketek? What kind of results did you achieve, good or bad?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott-

My daughter who is 23 has been on it about a month. She had done IV for a while. I think it is helping her cognitive issues and pain.

There have been other people asking about Ketek. YOu may want to do a search.

Good luck to you!

Samantha

Thanks Samantha. I tried searching this site, but I never get any results. I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong. I search on the keyword 'ketek'.

My daughter is switching to Ketek also. She has been on it a week, and we dont see a lot of difference, she did major herx with jaw pain, and knee swelling.

From what our doctor said, it is to have a better permeability in both joint tissue and BBB. It can maintain a higher concentration in those areas, and addresses the cystic form as well.

It has been used in Europe for nearly 5 years with excellent results for other hardy bacteria. Some european lyme patients have reported excellent improvements, but there is not official lyme study at this point that I know of.

Dr. J started my kiddo on Ketek about 3 1/2 weeks ago. She's been tolerating it okay but, beginning yesterday . . . BAD headache and this morning stomache ache and she said she feels like "LEAD".

I'm thinking maybe herx happening which - though bad for her "I'm trying to just survive each day of ninth grade" self, it could in the long run be GOOD. We are hoping and praying!!

He indicated no need for Flagyl w/ this med as it can address the cyst form too - have ya'll heard that as well???

Good luck to everyone!
