Hey I started taking Doxy 5 days ago and for the past 2 days ive been havin prickling all over my body from head to toe. Does anyone know if this is related to the doxy? Ive had pins and needles in my hands n feet before, but this is more just prickles all over. Any guesses?

This could be a herx reaction...or not.
If you feel it is out of control, call your doctor, for this could be Lyme, your meds that you are on, or a herx. Take your pick.
Taking Benadryl may help if it is a slight drug reaction. But, I'd, personally say, in my opinion, a herx is a happening.

I could be or not I know folks who's first symptoms were pins and needles in their hands and feet and had it progress to the whole body I would just let your doctor know and they should be able to give you some advice as to what to do.

I am brand new to this site and just got dx and started my antibiotics 4 wks ago.
I am just learning about this disease so I am not sure if I can tell you what might be going on but I would just like to say I have been experiencing this extreme prickling feeling as you are describing on and off since I first got sick 4 months ago.
Since I have been on the meds I am experiencing It more. Its so stange because I am learning about herxing and stuff but I can't tell if I am getting worse or if the herx.
Does it tend to happen shortly after taking your med. for that day?
The reason that I ask is because I am on Doxy. 3 times a day and after my second pill for the day I always get really sick for a coulple of hours or even the rest of the night.
Sometimes more servere than others and that prickly tingly feeling all over my body is what I get. As well as extreme fatigue. Last night was an extreme prickly tingly weak one.
Like I said I am not sure of much right now but from I know of myself and just thought it would help you to know that I am experiencing that too.
It started happening the other night about 2 hours after the doxy, I also get pain in my stomach, but i know this is common with doxy, i just did see any prickling pins as a listed side effect so It worries me a bit. The arthritis has also got worse and my head is all a for, but this ive had for a long time. The prickling all over my body is something new for me and Im just so dang tired of gettin one new symptom after another and livin in the torment and fear of it all.

I also had and still have stomach pain when I take it sometimes just nausea. I have to take it with food.
Its a strong med. I was told by my doctor to make sure I take it with food.
I ate an orange and it wasn't enough food on my stomach and the pain was so strong I tried to stop myself from getting sick because I wanted to keep the med in but I was definatly unsuccessful.
Just make sure you take it with food.
I too am having a rough time with managing my level of fear. Expecially when I get so fatigue I can't move. It has helped to speak to others that I can relate too so I know I am not alone.
The problem I am having is knowing that it is going to take a while to see results of getting better, if at all, and when I feel my symptoms get soo bad and worse I am unsure whether the medicine is working and I am herxing or not and i am just getting worse.
How long have you been sick and were you on any meds before just 5 days ago?

Lisa, I know your reply was directed at BB but I too experience what she is and so I was wondering if you could explain the difference between PN and the lyme causing this as a symptom, from attacking the nerves and making this feeling.
If it was the lyme causing the tingles from attacking your nerves causing PN or whatever wouldn't it be better to stay on the med to kill the lyme?

Lisa, I havent had this before at all. I was on IV rocephin for 4 weeks 3 yrs ago and on doxy for 4 weeks 2 1/2 years ago with no tingling/prickels. I think I will cut back for a day or two and see if it goes away. Thanks.
Alexis, Ive been sick for 6 years now and if you read above you can see what meds ive been on before this, not much unfortunately. Im really sorry you are havin a real ruff time like most of us here. It really does break my heart to know (and I know lol) how bad people on here are suffering. I just want to get back to functioning enough to take care of my 5 kids, Ive said "Lord I dont need to be all better, just better enough to Give enough to my family." That would satisfy me at this point. You are in a place were people Truely understand and care here on lymenet.

I am so sorry that you have been sick for so long! Were you sick for 2 years without any antibiotic treatments? I am not sure if you have told your story as far as what has happened to you I was curious?
I know how you feel about your children. I haven't been sick for as long as you have (yet anyway) I am hoping to be able to get some releif as everyone else.
I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old. They are staying with their father right now because I have been unable to care for them. He lives about an hour away and I barely see them.
I just like you feel like, lord just let me feel just strong enough to take care of them even a little.
When I get the tingles in my extremties I also get an extremely heavy, sore, weak feeling comes over my muscles.
This symptom has started since day one for me or pretty close to it 4 months ago and just kept getting worse and worse everytime it happened.
So it may be a little different. I realized no 2 stories of lyme are the same. Thats so strange to me.
I appreciate your feedback. Its really nice to have people to talk to.

Lisa, Thanks for the info. Hopefully if its the meds it will go away.
Alexis, I was sick for 3 years before treatment. The docs here in WA just told me I was crazy and then I really did go nuts and have a break donw. I knew it was physical, I just couldnt get the dr.s to believe me, it didnt help that all blood tests, spinals, n MRIs were always normal until the Elisa test. My husband and my kids have been wonderful through all this. I have 8 kids all together at age 27 lol..3 step daughters (twins) 14, n 16,(but they live in Cal n come up for visits) 2 boys, 4 n 7, n a girl 5 who are mine biologically, and 2 other girls, 11 n 13,who came from an abusive home that my husband I have addopted. Phew thats enough to make a persons head spin! Who needs lyme!? It breaks my heart that every one pulls my slack. Im sorry to hear about your kids. I dont know what i would do with out the help of my husband and big girls. Ill be prayin for you too, especially that you get well enough to get your babies back. Ill hang in there if you will

Then there is my LLMD definition of a herx. He, www.drcharlescrist.com says that a herx is intense Lyme symptoms that you already have experienced and new ones that you have not experienced before.
That is what his experience with dealing herxes is.
