As many of us are on these two drugs I thought I would post this:
http://www.catie.ca/supple-e.nsf/0/7b09aa55a412896c85256c6e0070bf60?OpenDocument

"Milk thistle also has the potential to lower levels of the following drugs in the blood:

anti-parasite drugs - Mepron (atovaquone)
sedatives/sleeping pills - Ativan (lorazepam)
hormones - estrogen"

Hope this helps,
robi

jeepers.... i am taking mepron and recently have had this sinking feeling about my milk thistle consumption while i am taking it. i need the milk to keep my liver enzymes in check since they recently are on the rise with my merpon/zithro/plaquinil combo.

any thoughts on this comment?

Maybe I should just take big dose of Milk Thistle in the afternoon with the Magnesium instead of splitting it up all day. That would at least keep it away from my drug intake times a bit.

I take Dr. Zhang's Hepa 2 formula to keep my enzyme levels normal, and many of the ingredients can be found in the various liver flushes sold in health food stores.

This most important ingredient, I'm pretty sure, is an herb called schizandra.

There is another product called...
Liver Care from Himalayan...heard good stuff about it.

Trout

PS...artichoke(liver) and dandelion (gallbladder) will help also.

This is a quote from an email I receivd from an LLMD I have consulted with:

``It is preferable to be on milk thistle while you're on Mepron, however,
don't take them at the same time. For ex, take Mepron b'fst & dinner,
take milk thistle at lunch, midmorning, late eve, etc.
The only major supplement restriction with Mepron is no CoQ10.''

Hope this helps,
robi

I can't believe it.......I hope that some of us haven't wasted weeks/months on Mepron taking milk thistle at same time and sabotaging what the Mepron's supposed to be doing.

Why don't our LLMD's mention these things if they are important I wonder.
