Hello Everyone!

I'm hoping to get some advice on the combination of abx. that I'm taking because I'm not feeling much better since I've begun taking them...

I've been on 2000 mg Amox. day for 2 mos. now with relief of a few symptoms, but the onset of some that I've never had before-especially joint pain, numbness and pain in my right arm, terrible lower back pain and pain in the back side of my skull off and on.

Just had my second series of bloodwork and the Western blot came back equiv. for the second time. My LLMD started me on 500mg Zithromax day and I've been on for 4 days now. Just a few questions...

Is this strong enough of a combination to kill off the "keets"?

I've heard that the Amox. does not cross the blood-brain barrier and I think that's where most of my problems lie-will the Zithromax take care of that and is the dosage high enough to do it?

Should I be having days of feeling really good or is it common to still feel rotten almost every day?

Do you typically have a fever when herxing or is everyone different?

I'm sure I'm expecting too much too soon, but I just want to be sure that I'm doing the right thing to get better!

Thanks in advance!
Kim

I am on double your dose of Zithromax 4 250 Mg a day which equals 1000 Mg. I am also on 500 Mg Ceftin 2 X a day. I think that amox dosages are usually about 4000Mg. I am alos on 600 Mg of Rifampin and Plaquinil 2 X 200 Mg a day.

Check Dr. B's guidelines found om Lyme Net.

Hi!
I found that amoxycillin did nothing to me.If you do a search on antibiotics polls you will get everyones opinions.

I haven't had zithromax so I can't comment.

Hope someone more knowledgable replies.

Take care,Sue from Downunder.

Thanks so much for the feedback~

Sounds like my dosages are too low and possbily why I'm not feeling any improvement from them. I was on the Amox. and didn't notice anything significant and just recently started the Zithromax and waiting for it to kick in.

Last night a woke a few times with strange feelings in the side of my head, but I can't be sure that anything I've been feeling is really herxing...

What a confusing situation-thanks for your advice!

Kim

I believe I was on 6,000 or 7,000 mg of amox, and I currently take 750mg Zithro daily with one teaspoon Mepron. (Once daily-twice daily)

I don't think you are even close with your lower doses...esp Amox.

Good evening...

Sorry you are not seeing improvement as fast as you would like.

You said..

"Is this strong enough of a combination to kill off the "keets"?"

Yes, it is strong enough.

Some folks may need more due to size, weight, etc.. some need less.

Some folks have co-infections.. some don't.

Some folks have been sicker longer.. some not as long.

Some folks get VERY ill on that high of a dose.

Some folks herx for a long while.. and any more meds just kick them in the head and sets them back.

Some folks will respond to some meds quite well.. while others do not.

Some folks need to start out slower than others or they could end up dead from a bad herx. It DOES happen.

More does NOT always mean "better".

The hardest thing to do once you have been diagnosed is to wait for results to show.

Never have I seen anyone happy with how long that actually takes.

I mean we can bake a potato in a few minutes... so why can't I swallow these pills and feel better NOW?

It just isn't that easy.

Just because something works for one person.. doesn't mean it works for another.

If, after a month on zithro, you see no improvement.. then ask the doc about your concerns. OK?
