HELP. I was diagnosed LYME positive through BOWEN. I was bit by a tick and had the bulls eye three years ago. I started the Rocephin IV two days ago for two weeks and today i start taking Metronidazone twice a day. After that i go on the Doxy for 60 days. I have not noticed any difference. Is it too early? Does everyone go through Herx? I am just not sure if this is working. HELP!!!! Anyones input will be appreciated.

Hi Christina-

It could be too soon for a herx, it takes awhile for some people. My herxes on IV were mild, but most of the time so I'm not really sure what was symptom or herx.

Follow up oral abx is key. You should take them for several months longer then you have symptoms or herxes. I stopped too soon, I knew better but listened to the doctor. I had to change dr's to get long term oral abx.

Well she said that after the 60 days of doxy she will put me on something else or keep the doxy. Believe it or not i am dealing with my regular MD. She advised me to start the Metronidazone because she wants to make sure it will help kill the cysts. She also put me on some suppliments as well. I am on B12 too and i do feel like i have more energy now. I was just freaking out that maybe the meds are not working. My luck i will pobably have really bad herx later. LOL

Hi Cristina,
I see that you finally got a DR. in Florida. I e-mailed you some weeks ago. She sounds as if she IS treating you aggressively, and I am glad that she has also put you on supplements. Many people here seem to think that antibiotics are the best and the end of treatment. BUT, after antibiotics, you must re-buils your system with lots of good healthy stuff. It sounds as if you are in good hands... Keep positive, and be patient.
