Wondering if this is a relapse....

Ever felt drunk without a drop of alcohol? What are your symptoms like?

For me, unsteady gait, poor concentration, can't remember one moment from the next (generally when walking from one room to the other)....

Hi.

I had this a lot... it was lyme and its freinds the coinfections. It is appears to be partly caused by reduced blood flow to the brain. I also believe that the endotoxins given off by the bacterial have some effect on the neuro transmitter chemicals. If it was like me, any form of stress made/makes the problem much much worse in a matter of seconds.

*** ALSO ***

On the subject of drunkedness, have you had a high blood achohol level with nothing to drink?. Maybe you forgot that you drank OR....It might be a yeast problem. This phenomina was first documented in Japan.

Basically an overgrowth of a particular type of yeast causes fermentation in the body and results in alchohol getting into the blood.

I mention this as if you are on heavy antibiotics, is something that should be considered.

relapse? *Are you off antibiotics?* It could very well be a relapse.

Dave may be right, or it could also be the beginings of ataxia or menengitis- inflamation of the brain and spinal fluid.

uhmmm... if you are off abx You want to get that checked ASAP...

Personally I found a half an asprin (NOT motrin or tylenol) helped me with menengitis symptoms- does not do anything to help the infection but can reduce some of the swelling.

Thanks Dave and caat,

Yes, I've been off abx for 5 weeks. Was doing great until about a week ago and then this started.

I had this symptom before I was dx with lyme, but this was worse than before.

My memory is funny - it seems to be more in social situations that it gets bad. For instance, I've been reading a novel before I go to sleep and in the morning (generally at least 10 hours later) when I begin reading I remember the sentences that I read the night before and can find where I left off.

It doesn't make sense that it comes and goes. But last night I was at work, had a conversation with someone in the hallway, walked into another room (about a minute or two later) and couldn't remember, for the life of me, who I was speaking to and what the conversation entailed.....

I don't have the headaches, but have noticed my sinuses are clogged (right now allergies are bad for everyone in this area).

Thanks for the tip about the aspirin - will try it.

This is so incredibly frustrating!!!!!!!! Just when you think you're better....
Dunh-dunh-dunh-dunh DUNH!

I had a period of "drunken" sensation --without drinking alcohol--about a month ago. It happened every day for seven days. Each episode lasted about 30 -40 minutes and I felt exhausted after that.

The only commonality was that I took depo-provera, a progesterone supplement. The episodes started 3 days later. They stopped when I stopped the depo-provera.

My symptoms: sudden clear vision followed by wooziness, as if drunk. Hard to concentrate, understand and follow conversation, double vision, wobbly walking requiring help, slow and slurred speech.

After that I went to a neurologist. We tend to blame everything on Lyme but don't know the exact pathophysiology of what is going wacky, and sometimes I think we should know more.

It could be the yeast fermentation theory some have mentioned creating a distillery in my own body, but I was concerned that it might be mini-strokes due to a clotting problem, which progesterone can cause, and because Lyme has been known to cause coagulation changes. I also considered seizures, since Lyme is known to cause lesions and inflammation, which can lead to focal seizures.

I won't know the results of my EEG for a few more weeks.

sure sounds like a relapse & menengitis (at least)- woozieness, balance problems decrease in reading level etc.

You need to get back to the doc and get back on abx ASAP. Do not fool around with this, it's a serious issue right now.
