I was rx'd daily shots of B-12 by my LLMD for an indefinite period, due to neuro symptoms of neuropathy and ankle twitching. A friend of mine was rx'd the same due to a deficiency problem. We're in the process of finding a compounding pharmacy and getting a per-month price, but meanwhile, has anyone done these shots? Is it really bad? I thought they were subcutaneous at first but they are intramuscular, aren't they? Ouch. Would like to do it if there's a chance it will help, but we're already grimacing.

I love my B12 shots!!!! Yes, they are intramuscular but they aren't bad. I use my thigh. I can really tell the difference when I use them. And the methyl type is supposed to be neuro protective. They really help me with fatigue.
You two could give them to each other in the deltoid muscle (in the upper arm), if you trust each other.

I take B-12 shots 3 times a week and I give my shots to myself, sometimes in my butt sometimes my arm and sometimes my leg. They do not hurt like I thought they would and are a lot easier on me when I give them to myself than let my sister in law give them she likes to play darts I think! I have stuck myself so much until I am afraid I am going to drink some water and sprinkle the yard one day. LOL Not sure if they are helping or not, I am feeling a little better and I have a little more energy not sure if that is because of the shots or just the fact that I am getting better from the lyme, Going back to no energy isn't worth stopping the shots to see what is helping and what is not! My llmd gave me my first B12 shot and I anxiously awaited energy! But I didn't get any . What I have responded better to are sublingual B12 pills. I'm not real peppy but I do see some positive improvement. cootiegirl

I've been doing the B12 shots for about 3 months daily. I do it subcutaneously and it really doesn't hurt much at all. Although I don't feel major improvement, I do find myself doing more things in the afternoon(when I'm normally catatonic!) than before.Go for it- I don't think it could make you feel any worse- even if it it intramuscular!

I've been doing b-12 twice a week since May and I love it.
The day I got the first one I could barely make it to the LLMD's office, terrible migrane, overwhelming fatigue, extemely foggy - thought when I got home I'd just colapse. They gave me a shot in the office to show me how to do it and within a couple of hours my headache was gone, fogginess cleared up alot and I felt good all night and most of the week.
I know they don't help everybody but it is worth trying. I do mine in my behind and as long as you try to relax whatever muscle you are putting it in they really aren't hard to take.

I find that Vitamin B12 shots are one of the most beneficial "supplements" that I use.
When I experience fasiculations (what I call "vibrating sensations") or when my heart starts to go crazy on me, Vit. B12 shots, along with a Mg. pill have a decided calming effect on me. I often give them to myself in the middle of the night.
When I first was introduced to them by the doctor I feared I'd never be able to give myself a shot. However, the doctor Rx'd the fine needles, and they're really quite painless, considering.
I find the least painful place to give them to myself is in my stomach. That sounds gross, I know, but these days that's where I have excess "padding," (shall we say). There must not be as many nerves in that region as elsewhere.
The B12 shots are VERY helpful wtih my neurological problems!
