I believe I have lyme misdiagnosed as ms. I'm currently taking Levaquin for a sinus infection, and after 10 days I feel worse!
The first 6 days were hell--headache, muscle aches, twitching, could hardly walk--felt stiff all over, couldn't sleep.

Anybody have any experience with Levaquin?

Sounds like your herxing spirochetes dying faster than your body can rid you of the toxins.

Heres some stuff to read over.

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

I also took Levaquin, back in June, for a Bartonella co-infection.

I only managed 8 days on it though (with Doxycyline) because I was too "freaked out" by the symptoms on Levaquin.

My LLMD later told me the symptoms I had while on Levaquin were no danger-sign just that "the Levaquin was killing too many bugs in my brain too fast and causing many neuro sx".

The symptoms I got on Levaquin were abnormal skin sensations, "spider bites", "pinpricks", and then a constant feeling in hands and feel of having washed them in ben-gay, a burning icy-hot feeling.

You're talking to the sinus infection queen!!! In fact, for me last year, that's how it all started. A CAT scan did show I had a sinus infection, and the ER put me on Levaquin. ENT continued it for 12 weeks.

Let me tell you, by about day number 2, I got whammied!! (at the time, I was a misbeliever in the Lyme diagnosis, as I'd had 2 tests from regular labs)...but those on Lymenet told me - if you start feeling worse after a few days on antibiotics (symptoms exaggerated or lovely new ones pop up), it's Lyme..

8 mos later, when the 12th specialist I saw wanted to do a spinal tap to 'rule out MS', I went running to an LLMD, and I hope you do too. Lyme is the great imitator, and it's unfortunate so many are labeled with incorrect, 'incurable' diagnosises.

Welcome to Lymenet, and please keep reading and get yourself educated. Get to an LLMD - you can post under 'Seeking a Dr' - be sure to include your state and region in the title.

Also, when on Levaquin, please be careful with any type of exercise, as Levaquin has a tendency to cause tendon damage. No one alerted me to this, and I ended up with horrible leg tendon pain as I was going to the gym 4 times a week...

Best wishes to you.
