Yuck. First time in probably 15 years I had to deal with this, good old yeast infection. Do any of you know any natural remedies for those tender spots or do you resort to the pharmacy for Monistat and/or the others?
I am on Acidophilous for the abxs.
Thanks to anyone who wants to answer this wonderful question. I am female.

Hi lemonhead,

I get the Monistat and find something that will kill the yeast everywhere else, like difulcan, or something over the counter.

I am using Solaray's yeast cleanse right now, so far so good. I also take a lot of acidophilus.

I hope this helps.

I have one as well, including thrush-yuck. Recipegirl helped me out alot. I also used this website and went to the on-line library and went under the 1998 Burrascano Treatment Guidelines. It tells you about the yeast and what you should and shouldn't eat. I'm also doing the mouthwash/rinse and acidophlus thing. But per my Home Health Nurse who came Tuesday she said I needed Diflucin. I'm guessing mine is already too bad. I also had done the monistat thing as well (I did it twice -the one day thing) and it did help and I still have it. You might want to ck with your doc. Or perhaps one of the more knowledgible persons here can possibly assist.

Thank you. Ran out last night for the Monistat 3 day. The pharmacist adivsed doing to 7 day one, but I'm not good on doing things for seven days in a row so chose the middle ground. About the thrush and tongue thing, he also talked about gargling with a diluted bleach solution. I think that was in Dr. Bur's hints and treatments. Do you all get lines on your tongue that are irritated. I have two lines that run down the middle of my tongue and get sores in my mouth from time to time. It's weird. Do you think this may be the beginnings of thrush and what type of toothepasted do you use if you cant use sugar. Lots of questions, you know Lymeys.

Tree I love you to death, but acidophillus DOES NOT kill yeast, but it can help balance intestinal flora.

Lemonhead - get rid of your tooth brush, you are reinfecting yourself with thrush

You can buy natural toothpaste ( Toms is a good brand) at natures stores

BUT it would hurt to just open up some PLAIN WHITE yogurt and hold it on your tongue as long as you can WITH acidophillus, capryllic acid, etc.

Oil of oregano and olive leaf extract are really good too. You can open the capsules and just sit them on your tongue. ( by the way, they MAY make you herx)

But in any case get rid of that toothbrush!

Ummmm, I forgot where you said you HAD the yeast so Ima gonna shut up now.

Oh yeah, dont forget garlic! Real garlic cloves, crush em up or whatever and use them where you have yeast.

If this is a vaginal yeast problem ( I cant remember what you said) Ive just used monistat.

Im not really into putting garlic or anything else DOWN there. HAHA

Good luck

Lemonhead, good luck..I refuse to have this damn disease, My daughter is enough for me,but when I ever take any abx..I usually have to get Diflucan.I usually ask for the extra script before I leave the office..

I also have it currently in my mouth..Will try nystatin...I used to have the children's nytatin drops for thrush..Kids outgrew it but I finished it off.Worked most times..

There is some recipe for a vinegar douche out there somewhere..Not sure if it will work or not..Used if once when I had some toxic shock syndrome type crap. Years ago...

Would definitely beat garlic there..Although I know Crime didn't recommend it there.

I have had a lot of yeast problems, and found the monistat, and the rest of those really do not work very well in the long run.

My program:
For pain, itching burning etc, the best product I have found is "Yeastaway" by Boiron, found at Health food stores. 7 suppositories that will burn a bit in the beginning but really clear it up and stop pain and itching. It really works.

Nystatin four times a day
acidolpilis (sp) every day
yogurt (live cultures, plain) every day
NO NO NO sugar
You are not suposed eat simple sugars either (bread, pasta, white rice) but I lose too much weight that way and so I eat good wholewheat or sprouted bread, brown rice etc.

so Yeastaway has been a lifesaver for me.

Yeast is truly one of the hardest things for me to deal with when I'm on abx. I've been on and off treatment for years now,

and I still just can't seem to get it underwraps. I should've started taking more supplements before I went on treatment.

My diet has ALOT to do with it too. The Diflucan is really starting to work!!! I'm on IV's so that makes it harder to fight off, because Im getting such a strong dose of abx.

Not only did I have a nastyyeast infection(which is gone now)oh I didn't even need to use the 7 day store bought stuff, the diflucan pill took it right away.

I also have yeast soooo bad in my stomache. It's like when you make home made breads and you add the yeast and then it rises...That's what happens to my stomache! I really look 4-5 months pregnant.

Its horrible. My stomache bloats out so bad its hard for me to breath. I've yet to hear anyone on this site who has the same problem.

Yet my llmd says she sees it alot...

Anywy,Beverly where do you get Solaray's yeast cleanse? It sounds like good stuff!

TheCrimeOfLyme,I also use an all natural
toothpaste-never thought to cange my toothbrush-Dah

I am fighting exactly what Lemonhead described. So, I will be getting a new toothbrush thanx.

Dr.B,s rinse does sound good, how is it working?

Check back later, Jamie

Hey teammom, dufous Lymes here (lemonhead). I was looking at where folks were from, and saw your TX, darn, my primary physician said there is no Lymes in Texas. Teammom do you have a LLMD in Texas, and can you email me your information on that person. My LLMD is not workmans comp. certified, and I have put in for comp., because I got the bite in the field while working. I wont put the garlic down there but I know garlic is good for the heart and evidently for immune system. Do you think it gives the same benefits if you roast it, and eat it.

I have consistent problems with yeast and have had alot of bloating. How do you know if the yeast infection is in your stomach?

Is that the only reason we should stay away from sugar?

By the way - My Lyme is alive and well in Texas

Hi Lemonhead,

I sent you an e-mail about some Texas LLMDs.

Here are 2 links about coconut oil for yeast infections. It also builds the immunity overall.

Here's Mo's suggestion for best brand & there's a lot of helpful information, too.

http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm

Try to read Mo's replies on the link below-----she has several on this link which are helpful; as is everyone's there.

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/027570.html

I just went to the health food store & picked up a high quality one because I was impatient to get some.

Here's an informational site about how good coconut oil is for yeast/immunity. It's a colossal website.

This website is also full of info on magnesium which is so important for us. Lyme depletes magnesium. Then ABX also depletes Mg. And, ABX will not correct the problem.

Note: When you click on site below, a grey box will appear; just click the X in right hand corner & the site will come up for you. You'll really have to scan that left margin to find what you're looking for.

http://www.coldcure.com/html/dep.html

This is information overload, so sometime you might want to print parts of it out because it is too hard to take in at one time sitting at a desk.

Hope that helps some.

Take Care,
Jan
