I just had a Western Blot done and all of my titers were negative. I also had a test called LLT (Lymphozytentransformation test). It was also negative. Since none of the bands were positive, does this rule out a false negtive?

Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I believe the whole point of a false negative is that the bands come up negative . . .

Welcome to the board, and look for TINCUP's newbie links post!

Did you test for ALL 16 BANDS on IGM & IGG on your western blot? You need to have 16 bands tested.

Many other labs do not do this extensive testing that IGENEX labs from Palo Alto, Calif. does. IGX does NOT participate in any insurance coverages; so you pay a lot out of pocket for this that doesn't apply to your max out of pocket expenses!

Does anyone know if MD labs in New Jersey tests ALL 16 BANDS? I have a call into them waiting an answer. They also PARTICIPATE in most insurance coverages!

You can also do a SEARCH by typing in western blot and you'll get many posts about it that you can read. Best wishes.

So if I call let's say Lab Corp and ask if they test all bands they will give me the answer? Does anyone know if there is documentation that states they do not test all bands? I'm trying to do an appeal for my IGX bill. I have been denied all my charges for them as well as my other med bills. So now I would like to send in additional documentation showing that Lab Corp or SmithKline do not test all bands. Is there a legit site I can go to to find this information? Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
