How long is a herx? I've been on roceph almost a month, doxy almost a month, flagyl almost a month and diflucan for wk 1/2. As well as homopathics. Felt really bad for the first 2 1/2 wks. The first time I went through this it was like months before I finally got better (of course this is when they first finally found out I had LD and was being treated with all the "steps".

Now that I've had a relapse I figured with all the antibiotics I was on and all the homopathics that this second bout wouldn't be so bad. Now 3wks into my treatment, I'm up and down. A few days pretty good and then two or 3 days down (in bed literally sleeping 20-22 hrs in a day). I was under the impression that once I herxed then it would be up hill from there. I cannot take this roller coaster ride. I feel like a freakin manic drepressive up one day and down the next-perhaps schizo?

Am I loosin it or what?

Oh hun your not loosin it, the lyme is just fightin thats all. Many people herx and then improve only to herx again, this means theres still more bacteria in there bein killed. Your good days should eventually get more frequent and bad days less, and then your one of the lucky ones.

I sure hope you have a full recovery. Be easy on yourself. Believe me i know its torture, but im sure your dealing the best you can under these horrible circumstances. Take care and keep us posted.

I am back on abx after being off, and I feel the bacteria are stronger now and this is why I am having more bad days and longer herxes than before.

Some days it is hard to tell if I am herxing or slipping, a journal helps so you can track what is going on.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi TeamMom,

I hear what you're saying & understand.

I've started Doxy & am slowly ramping up to 400 mg day.

I've crashed on it. The back of the head pain (meningitis head pain) has returned with a vengenance.

I've been living in a false sense of security up to now.

Doxy sounds so innocuous, but when it hits your brain or even the outer surface,----- get ready for Pain Mode.

I can't email you until I'm better.

Hang in here. Your LD is entrenched.

I agree. Yes, it is quite a SHOCKER & throws you for a loop, when everything returns.

That's after being treated for 18 months of ABX.

Take care of Yourself. I'm thinking of you.
You're not alone.

Take Care,
Jan

I'm so glad ur feeling better...

Unfortunately, herxes can last as long as they want to

Ive had them last 3 months....

I've been in treatment 4 years and I still herx ... so there is no telling through how much of your road to recovery you will herx.

Best wishes
