I've been on antibiotics for about 10 days now and am still having knee pain and get very tired. I'm sure this is normal but have to ask just to put my mind at ease. I also have periods of nausea which could be from the meds. I'm on doxy 100 mg twice daily and do take with food.

Hi Jackieu:
I, too, am new to all this.
For joint pain, I take a product called "Joint Vibrance", which is a chondroiten sulfate/MSM/glucosmine, bovine collagen mixture, plus herbs/vitamins. This was purchased at a health food store. It has made a big difference in joint pain. It only hits periodically, and only at evening when I am physically more tired.
I have read here where others use chondroiten based creams, or tei fu oil, or basic chondroiten sulfate tablets/capsules, with success.
These products are for arthritis conditions. If you do a search here for "joint pains" you may find more helpful information or products. Often, people will purchase online if there is no nearby health food store.
Sorry I cannot help you with nausea, but if you do a site search here, I am sure there will be many posts about it, especially if it is a side effect of the medications.
Hopefully these conditions will pass quickly for you.
I'm not sure about your painful knees, but just wanted to pop in to say that many many Doxy users experience nausea with it, even when taken with food. My LLMD has also said this is true.
I just finished several months of Doxy and had nausea for the first few weeks, then not so much after that. It's like my body got used to the drugs...It was the same for me with Biaxin. For the first few weeks it left a terrible taste in my mouth, then, not so much from then on. Not everyone reacts to abx the same though...
I used to make up the Quaker Minute Oatmeal (hot) and eat several cups of it first then take the Doxy. That seemed to coat my stomach well, better than any other breakfast. I'd make a double batch and heat up the rest for my evening dose.
Tiredness, by the way, is expected and unfortunately normal, with the disease and during treatment. Mine happened to go away after 8 months or so of antibiotic therapy. My husbands fatigue lifted after only 4 months, just depends. Co-infections can compound the tiredness.
I hope you feel better soon.

Is your llmd going to increase the doxy?
I am NOT a dr but I think that it is a low dose by dr. b's guidelines.
I at first had nausea with doxy then it got so bad I couldnt keep the doxy down...
Ginger root helped with mild -moderate nausea. (you can by it in a health food store.
Fatigue is a symptom of lyme (and some coinfections) If you did not have this symptom before you could be herxing...
personaly I believe fighting illness makes you a little tired in itself but this is just from my experience as a lyme patient.
From what I have heard Its normal to still have symptoms after 10 days (especially if the symptoms have been around for awhile)

I have sore knees too, but it's not joint pain -- it's inflammation in teh tendons around the knee and across the kneecap. It comes and goes, just like all my aches and pains associated with lyme.
Makes stairs pretty hard sometimes.
For that I would second what another poster said about glucosamine/chondroitin.
