I just needed to tell someone who knows and understand what I mean. I feel like I am going to die I know a herxs means the medication is working but that still doesnt' make going through a herx any easier!

oh Stacie so sorry to hear you're having a horrible day.......so am I......I couldn't go to work today at all......

mixture of herxing and lots of pain in my back......we live close enough we should have met and laughed to keep from crying together....

or screamed.....that might have even been better......hang on girl.....tomorrow will be better.......herxing is only for a season and hopefully yours will only last for today......

I was worried when you said you tried to work this week......maybe you did too much....slow down girl and let your body rest......and pray......sometimes that's all we can do til it passes......

like you said before herxing is a good bad thing.........you know the abx are working but it's still a hell to go thru.......we're all with you....have been thru it and will go thru it again and again I'm sure.......

Hello,

Possibly cut back the dosages and work up.

I had to do this, after I realized that I WOULD die if I kept at the dosage I was at.

I was able to do the regular zithro dosage... but had to start very low dosage with the biaxin and doxy and work up.

You CAN die from herxing, so cut back if you have to. I know this, I experienced this, I cut back.

Trish

I know this will sound silly, but lemon juice in water may help a tiny bit.

Also, if you have any sort of virus going on as well- a cold or epstein barr, olive leaf tea might help. I have epstein barr and have found it flares up whenever I herx. I also used asprin (NOT motrin or tylenol) to help with swelling of the brain and spinal fluid.

I thought I was going to die with my first herxes too. And it *is* possible. Be careful, get plenty of rest and watch yourself very closely. You may need to cut back and build up to a higher dose- call your doc.

Also, do you have an rx for pain meds? Might be worth looking into, it makes it easier to handle the pain. Even if it's only every once in a while it can still give your body a needed rest.

First.... drink lots of water.... even if it doesnt make you feel better it is good to do..helps w toxind.

adding lemon is good .. but be careful how much you add....

I was adding way to much lemon (I really like lemon)...it made urination burn and the surounding skin irratated (so bad I was wondering if I had a yeast infection.)

Its really not good if you feel like ur dying....u should call ur llmd....

my llmd starts me on a lower dose and sees how I react after a while if im doing ok with it my dr increases the dose.

I'm not sure what your herx symptoms are if its pain...
maybe a hot bath, microwaveable heating pad (not the rice kind)moist heat)... if over the counter pain meds dont work maybe u can ask ur dr. for ultracet or ultram (ultracet used to work better for me)

also someone said pepermint ... if you do a search use my name AZURE WISH and keyword peppermint or pepermint in the title (i may have mispelled it)... I posted asking about it and I got a few responses. (I would ask ur dr. if you could use it before taking it)

if you have nausea Ginger root may help(it only worked when my nausea was mild to moderate) you can get it in a health food store

Hope your herx is a short one and you feel much much much better very soon.

Hang in there

Best wishes

Oh Stacie, I know how terrible you are feeling. I know words don't help much when you feel so lousy. You WILL get through this. You WILL live. I too thought I would die, many times.

What really helped me was to drink lots of water and some herbal teas. I also wrapped myself in warm blankets and got into bed. Chamomile tea sometimes helped me to sleep. I was not very nice to be around.

Most important thing is not to panic. I did and ended up in the ER a few times. Panic just made it worse.

Breathe, breathe, breathe! If you have a partner or child or pet, have them climb into bed with you. The steady sound of breathing and warmth from another (well) body is comforting.

And yes, cut back on the meds if you think you should. I would call my nurse when I was "herxing my brains out", as I would say to her, and she would tell me to stop the meds until I felt better.

I am 2 years into Tx and the herxes get more tolerable over time. Excuse my language but, a bad herx really does suck. Actually, even my mild ones still suck.

Hang on, girl!

Bc
