Interesting feedback especially for all of us who have had a very hard time with this medication.

I've done flagyl several times these past 2 years with doxycycline and the herx was a real killer- horrible horrible scarey herxes. Especially nuero symptoms.

I started rocephin 21 days ago and at day 4 and 5 started flagyl- was pretty horrible & I stopped. I started again maybe 15 days into this, after a nuero-herx was finished and I am NOT having an awful herx from it. This is a real first for me, at any stage of treatment or herx cycle. Right now I'm only having a very very mild neuro herx- almost unnoticable, and a medium bone herx (ouch!).

This suggests 3 possibilities to me;

1. it's possible that flagyl is much easier to take if the bbb and possibly major nerves have healed somewhat.

2. It's possible that Borrelia (or perhaps some strains of Borrelia) are for the most part in cyst form when they are in bone tissue.

3. OR, the doxy had killed most adult borrelia and a lot of the rest took refuge as cyst forms (eggs and hibernation forms) in bone tissue. This is basically the same effect as "2".

No studies exist whatsoever AFAIK on these 3 possibilities, but this is food for thought.

Anyone else have the same experience?
