IGM B. Burgdorferi AB - Negative
w/ reactive result for the 41 KD IGG band

IGM B. Burgdorferi AB : Positive
w/ reactive 23KD and 41KD bands

White Blood Cell count: 11.8 (high)

Platelet Count 475 (high)

Absolute Neutrophils 8850 (high)

Again, I'd appreciate any feedback...there is so much confusion with regard to false positive and false negative test results, my head is spinning. but, from what I've read I'm pretty confident that my doctor is right and Lyme is what I have.

You'll definitely want to bookmark the above post so you can return to it again and again. The more knowledge you have the better off you'll be, for this is a very, very and I mean very complicated disease.

Remember that Lyme is a clinical diagnosis and supported by the tests. And, you test is positive, so you have LD.

My numbers to your other tests looked almost the same. I have Lyme and have been treated and am still in treatment and most of those numbers, WBC, etc. are now back in the normal range.

So, with treatment you have something to look forward to...getting your lab numbers back to normal.

The most important thing you can do, if you have not already, is to get into see a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor, an LLMD. You can post over in the Seeking a Doctor forum for someone in your area. But, be aware, there are not a whole lot of LLMDs in the US and most of us have to travel great distances to see someone who truly knows how to treat this disease.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

I'll start by saying that this is a very difficult question to answer for lay people. We're not doctors.

Lyme Disease can cause many of our systems to react in many different ways.

You definitely have an active Lyme infection since your western blot IgM is postive. Plus you have a very high Elisa (Lyme AB screen).

The 23kd is the telltale band. 41 doesn't mean much.

I've had Lyme for quite a while now and my 23 always comes up positive. Just a few months ago that was confirmed by a PCR which actually found Bb DNA in my blood.

You definitely need to treat the Lyme. I'm not sure if Lupus treatments include steroids but if they do, stay away.

Steroids help Lyme penetrate deeper in to your tissue and also lowers your immune system. A very bad combo when trying to fight this bug.

A lot of weird symptoms have been resolved by antibiotic treatment in lyme patients.

You may also have coinfections since you platelets and WBC are high. I don't even know what a neutrophil is...

I'm not a doctor. This is only my opinion. Please try to find a Lyme Literate Doctor (LLMD) as soon as possible for help with Lyme treatment. Also, try to start antibiotics as soon as possible while you wait for an appointment.

Maybe you can even ask about your lab results when you make the appointment.

I'm the type who never gets sick, so this disease is totally wiping me out. I can't believe how tired I get mid-day. And, when I get tired, I get a "sick/weak" feeling too. Very strange....
