I have been on Mino for about three months now. 200mg a day in combination with several others. I have noticed a great improvement in my energy level however neuro symptoms persist. Hope this helps. Also the major side effect I've expereieneced is dizziness.

I took minocycline (200 mg/d) and it did little or nothing for me. I suspect it was b/c it was a generic version and not Minocin.

I had a similar experience with doxycycline. 300-400 mg/d of generic did less for me than 200 mg/d of Doryx, which made me herx like crazy.

Hi,

I knew I had seen all kinds of posts about minocin on here so I went to do a search for you.

There are so many responses that looked relevent, I couldn't decide which one to direct you too.

There's stuff about dosage, side effects, herxing, etc.

So, if you click on "search" which is located just below the "Post Reply" icon at the top of the page, you can search for minocin minocycline and allow either words in the search. I also clicked on subject only which will narrow your search to topics that are about minocin/minocycline.

Lots of good reading there. A lot of it is recent too.

Good Luck,

Corgilla

Ive been on mino for about 6 or 7 months. Its the only antibiotic that has helped a little.Ive tried doxcy, tetra, zith, biaxin and none did anything.I am hoping to continue to improve on mino and am curiouse how I will feel in 4 months or so.I feel I probably need IV but if I cant get on it I want to stay on mino.Mino is very intense if you do try it,not to scare you but it feels like a strong drug.If I had to start treatment all over I would ask for mino.

I was been on zithro and ceftin for about 15 months. My doc recently subbed minocycline for the ceftin. I have been taking 300mg of mino for about six weeks now, and what one other said, I would echo. It feels like a strong drug. I had a strong herx, and on top of that I was really dizzy for the first 3 weeks. After six weeks the dizziness is almost gone, just now becoming tolerable. Quite a few times I almost decided to bag it but I am glad I hung in there. Next time I would start out slower, 100 mg for one week, then go to 200 for a week, then 300. I foolishly started right up at 300 mg. I think it is helping but can't say for sure.

One nice feature is that it does not seem to cause photosensitivity, like doxy.
Good luck!

I've been on 200mg Minocycline (generic for Minocin) for 2 1/2 weeks now.

I've had 3 very bad days since. Maybe these were herx days, I don't know. I've also had 1 good day. First time in a long time. I've also had two days with crystal clear head. Also a first time in a long time.

So, I believe the mino is doing something for me.

I should note that I'm also taking Artemisinin for Babs at the same time. Though I have not gotten a positive test for Babs.

To those who suspect that the generic version of Minocycline is different from Minocin, have any of you tried both?

Michael

Joe,

Yes, I did see Dr.L 2 1/2 weeks ago. He put me on the Mino.

I started on half dose the first day. Then did full dose on 2nd day and on.

I did get lightheaded on the very first 50mg pill I popped. But after that I haven't felt a thing.

I don't know how long to stay on Artemisinin. Dr.L just said to continue taking it. I take ~500mg/day.

Who are you btw? I'm sorry if I don't remember you, but I don't recall your LymeNet name.

Maybe we exchanged some email at some point? Send me an email to let me know how you're doing.

Michael

Hi,

I credit Mino for saving my life. It target my neuro lyme and has helped me function again.

if you do a search using my name, you should find all kinds of posts about Mino and some good info from other posters using mino as well.

I did herx badly on it a first, but if I had to do it all over again, Mino would be the first abx I asked for!

Best wishes, and let me know if I can help in anyway!
