yesterday I posted saying how awful I felt again after traveling and last night started running a fever again. Went up to 101.2 overnight and I felt so weak, achy and tired it was unbelievable.

I was diagnosed about a month ago and have been on Doxy for almost 4 full weeks. I see my regular MD again on Monday for follow up but am really worried.

It just seems weird to have a fever again after being on abx this long but I guess that's normal? Just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms.

I ran a low grade fever for almost a year before treatment, and then during the first few months of antibiotics.

At four weeks you are right where you can expect another herx reaction. Four days and again at four weeks is the classic time to have an increase in symptoms due to die off of the bacteria.

This is the time when doctors who don't understand Lyme sometimes take people off antibiotics because they think it is making them worse. It is not! It is just the cycle of the bacteria.

If you are concerned, check with your LLMD.

Hey there hot cha cha..

Sorry to hear you are running a fever.

Several possibilities..

1. It's a herx. Pretty classic.. four weeks on doxy.. and a herx is hitting. Some folks temps go up during this time. This is pretty normal.

2. Co-infections. Were you tested? Having Babesiosis for example... that wouldn't be HIT by the doxy... and it may be rearing it's ugly head.

3. Re-infected recently?

4. You have caught a flu?

There are probably more things.. I am just a bit short now on brains and time.

Hope that helps.

I think it's probably a herx....got REALLY bad this afternoon, could hardly hold my head up. nausea, vomitting, it was horrible. I've read about them but never imagined they were that bad...pretty much like when I first got really sick and was diagnosed. My lyme titer was over 4 too...dont know what that means, maybe I've had this longer than I thought or what.

Thanks for your support

Before diagnoses my fever ran 96 or so but on occassions I would run a low grade fever like 99 or so and I did that kind of regular almost on a schedule it seemed. After diagnoses and starting treatment (been on IV rocephin for 3 months and zithromax and plaquinil for 3 weeks) I have a herx and my fever jumps.

I run a fever everytime I have herxed I think and it isn't a low grade fever it jumps up at times above 103 and it is never below 101 until it quits. My herx starts with hurting all over that nothing helps, fuzzy head (and not just my hair) confused all those things and my fever takes a big spike! then after about 12 to 18 hours the fever goes away and I am just weak and I am sore all over.

I don't tend to have mild herxes either mine are always BIG TIME herx. So bad I get close to wanting to go to the roach motel (ER) before it gives me a break. My biggest herx symptom is extreme body pain all over. My skin bruises I hurt so bad at times. why that happens I have no clue. The next symptom is high fever.

I hope that means because lyme doesn't like fever that my body is killing the bugs with the fever spiking like that. As for the pain and bruising not sure I just always do wierd things I guess.

Stacie
