I have some great news. I am a 3x infectee, 1976,1999, 2002 and had to move out of CA because of my illness and the ticks attraction to me. I now live in the desert. Last summer I felt I had Westnile virus. I finally found a new Dr., and told him about my complaints. He looked at my new patient info and said you have Lyme Disease, not Westnile! I really had given up on trying to find a LL Dr. here, because I had been through the whole re-run of testing, MRI, spinal tap etc. w/ a nuero. then he said "Oh you do have Lyme, sorry, I don't prescribe pain pills...find someone else". Ugh!!!
So this new wonderful doctor had great compassion, and gave me 1000 vitamin B12, 1x a month for 3 months. He sent me to a "good" nuero in Phoenix who again said "you have Lyme, and I don't want to put you through any more testing, let's try accupunture to help your headaches, fatigue, nueropathy, etc.".
Dr. Susan Wojack, began treatment to improve circulation. My headaches began to improve after just 2 injections of B12. They did test levels and I was normal range but they increased the B12 to weekly (I inject myself) and I am headache free,(except during a herx.) My fatigue was still there. We went over my diet and realized sugar and a diet too low in protien made me crash. I changed and gave up sugar and increased my protien (bars). I have tried to test this therory (as not to have to give up sweets) and ate chocolate candy once or twice and woke up with the worst brain FOG. Like a hangover w/o the dry mouth. I am now totally convinced!!! I am continuing with acupuncture for the nueropathy and poor circulation 1-2x a month. But please insist on getting vit. B12, weekly for fatigue and headaches. You can not get too much B12. I feel like a new woman!!!!
Also, when my HA's do hit me hard like in a herx. I found that 2.5 Ambien helps take the edge off, (along with percocete.) but perco. alone does not do it. The ambien helps to relax the brain. I will take more after an hour if I does not ease up. I first discovered this when I wanted to sleep, it hurt so bad...and all it did was take away the pain!
Hope this helps you, as wonderfully as it has helped me. God bless you.

I'm glad you've found what works for you like I'd found mine. It's a wonderful feeling to be alive and well after a long adventure.

Keep going!

Shar, congratulations on your success.

What kind of protein bars are you eating? I was also told that I am not having enough protein, and went to look for protein bars. Most of them have sugar, which most of us are off, so there weren't a lot of choices.

I have been going through all the flavors of Atkins Advantage bars which are mostly sugar free. What are you liking?

I tried B-12 for awhile but it didn't do much.

My LLMD told me to stop as he feels B-12 strengthens BB.
