I am an identical twin with lyme, she was diagnosed many years ago with lupus and scleroderma and a ton of other stuff.
She supposedly is allergic to abx, taken for sinus infections, pleurasy, eye infections, you name it, but she gets very ill and can't continue taking the abx. Her doc says she is allergic to abx. I am certain she has lyme. She lives in Ontario, was tested which of course came out negative. We are quite the pair together, hobbling and stiff.
My brother is the same way. It is really quite funny (laughable) to watch us walk side by side, arm in arm. We have to be careful b/c if one goes, then we all fall. I think he also has lyme, along with his kids. A few of my sis's kids too. And a few of mine.

I have identical twin sons, I believe that both of them have contracted Lyme through me at birth. They both have alot of symtoms, but haven't tested yet. They both have been on doxy from a dog tick bite recently, they both had reactions to the doxy but not servere. We plan on getting a western blot for both of them, but don't have insurance.
Not sure if this helps you at all with your question.
Take care Lisi

You are too funny! You give a visual description that is quite comical of the three of you. I know that Lyme is not funny, but we do have to keep our sense of humor!
Lisi,
Yes, this is helpful. It will be interesting to see the responses to this thread.
Thank you both for replying and sharing your situations.
Corinne, your sister has a lot of alternative s that she can do. Some of us just cannot tolerate long-term abx without a reaction.
Thanks again to you both and Best of Health, Maggie

I am a fraternal twin. I have Lyme along with a co-infection. My sister's name is Margaret. Sometimes people call her Maggie. I think she has Lyme Disease. I have suggested it but she said that she was tested and just like everyone else I tell, was told they didn't have Lyme. She has constant sinus infections and she has gained lots of weight.
It is very frustrating to see my family sick and they won't get tested properly. I want to pull my hair out but since it falls out and I am just about out of hair, I think I will forget that idea.
I have one sister-in-law that was diagnosed with Lupus and one that has so many symptoms that I can't even count. A couple of the major problems she has are the ringing in the ears and she can't stand smells.
We lived in West Virginia until we graduated from school. My mother has artritis very bad and has had knee and hip replacements. From what I have learned, it could very well be all related to Lyme and my mother could have passed it to me and my twin sister.
When I talk to my family, they think that they have to have the same symptoms as me in order for them to have Lyme. I guess I don't explain myself well enough or something. I guess I am just going to have to pray harder.
Very good post Maggie.

I am a fraternal twin but if you saw us you would think we are identical. I was diagnosed with Lyme back in April of this year. I've have been working with a LLMD since July, and been on abx since then.
Alice has many many symptoms which no one has been able to zero in on. Even the Mayo clinic. I have been talking to her a lot. She tells me she has been tested and the results were negative.
I have encouraged her to be tested at Igenex or Bowen but so far she hasn't done that. We both have many symptoms, the worst of which is the chronic pain all over the body. It is hard for me to understand why she wouldn't want to be tested by a reputable lab to get to the bottom of her problems. She has gotten a bit mad at me so I've had to back off.
This is one insidious disease and I feel for anyone who is suffering without a clear understanding of why! The longer this goes untreated, the harder it is on the person with the disease!
