Just wondered if anyone else has had this - about 3 days after my shot, I woke in the middle of the night thinking I could hear a guy I know, talking. Of course, I wasn't but it was "inside my left ear only".

This has NEVER happened to me in my life and I wondered if I was going insane.

I note it's on the adverse reactions list of Bicillin. Does it usually not happen after subsequent shots?

DLL:

Sorry to tell you this but, you ARE insane.

Just kidding. Yes, at first I thought I would see things move out of the corner of my eye and even thought I heard things. I figured it was the Mepron but, now that you mention it, it started when I added the Bicillin in.

I also have a heightened sense of smell. I think perhaps we are more sensory or more sensitive to things while on these meds. Although, I can honestly say that I hallucinated while on Rocephin. Now THAT was weird.

I had my MD check my ears the other day because I kept "hearing" a popping noise in my right ear. He laughed, said my ears were clear as a bell and said he has heard of all kinds of things like this from his LD patients.

I think others have mentioned things like this in another thread.

Phew! I was starting to wonder, especially as the voice talking was of a many whom I dislike very very much.....except I couldn't understand any of it. Weird and not something I'd like to "do" again.

Hallucinations can happen with Lyme (or its coinfections). Any sense can be affected. I've had a lot of auditory hallucinations, usually I hear music that isn't being played. My hallucinations didn't seem to follow a regular pattern of getting more or less intense while on antibiotics, but I can assure you that you are not alone in this.

WHEW!!!!! I'm not alone in this either!!! LOL

Just started on my 1st round of abx a little over a week ago, but have been having 'hallucinations' of sounds, sights, and smells that aren't there for a couple of months now, and a really weird acrid-metallic taste, several times a day, started just a few days before I found out I had LD.

Have had burning in my feet & legs for about 1 1/2 yrs now and it has been in my hands and arms for about 1 yr.

I've been poked, prodded, stuck, scanned etc. for a couple of years now trying to find out what was going on. 3 nerve conduction studies (each getting worse results), tests for all kinds of neurological problems (too many to list).

Finally, my podiatrist did a 'fishing expedition' of blood work that found LD and what she & my PCP call a systemic rheumatic strep infection (don't remember exactly what they called it). They also said it appears that I've had both for 'quite some time' but neither know how long. Found out just in time for Christmas this year too. LOL

From what I've been reading here, seems it may have been years. Oh well. Redo the blood tests in a few weeks and will see then what PCP wants to do. He has already talked about an immunologist, and I found out we have one locally that also treats LD.

In all this time, I've been treated for a myriad of other things that now I am learning may be a direct or indirect result of LD.

Oh well, at least I'm getting treatment today and we'll see what comes tomorrow.
