Hi All! I am new here, although I have been reading alot on this site & board. My brother was dx w/Lyme 12/02/04 - finally!!!! I am going to say he has had lyme for a year now, but his docs wouldn't test him for it--he had to find a Lyme Specialist on his own who finally tested him and guess what??? Lyme is is!!!!! The neuro's he was seeing only wanted to discuss ALS & MS since his symptoms were mostly neuro. He started antibiotics this month and IV treatment is scheduled to begin Jan. 07, 2005. He has back and leg pain since starting the abx. I think I remember reading on here that Lavendar Oil is helpful for the aches and pains....Any feedback????? I bought him some today to try,,,,hoping it will help! He has been through so much this year with this disease, but finally knowing what it is and that there is treatment helps a bit. I know he has had some bad days since starting treatment, but we are all very hopeful that his LLMD will get him back on track. At least there is a Dr, finally doing something!!!!!

Did they check him for coinfections? It took about a year for my son to be diagnosed. How old is your brother... kid, teenager or adult? Just curious.

Hi! Thanks for the reply....he just turned 34 this year...from what I understand he is being treated by a very reputable Lyme Dr. in Hermitage, PA. At his first visit he was positively floored by the news after all the other drs. either laughing at him, or telling him " not possible-no ticks in Monroe County" (he lives in Rochester, NY). He couldn't really digest all the Doc told him first visit. He has a list of questions for his appt. next week. Personally, from what I have read here, I suspect he may have coinfections. It has been very difficult to watch my "baby" brother deteriorate the way he has this year. I give him a lot of credit though and am very proud of him...he has not complained through all of it and has a very positive attitude....he says he knows what he is dealing with now, and he knows he will get better! He is a fighter and I am sure he will keep at it 'til he wins.

I use many aromatherapy oils for treatment and I've use lavender oil very regularly, but it is mostly for skin treatment.
I have a complete reference book about every aroma oils so lavender is for the following purposes:
Historical data: French scientist, Rene Gattefosse, was the first to discover lavender's ability to promote tissue regeneration and speed wound healing.
Medical properties: antiseptic, antifungal, analgesic, antitumoral, anticonvulsant, vasodilating, relaxant, anti-inflammatory, reduces blood fat/cholesterol, combats excess sebum on skin.
So.....it does not mentioned anything about pain treatment. However, I have been using podi patch which had helped me tremendously with my body and leg pain so maybe he give it a try. You can get them at www.podipatch.com Try 5 nights supply if you're not sure, but I know many people have great results with these. It's a miracle.
My pain improves after first night using it and get better as I continue. Good luck.
