my stomach is killing me here. I was taking ketek and bicillin L-A and my doc just took me off the ketek for a bit to do diflucan to kill the yeasts. I was already sick to my stomach before I started Diflucan, but now it so raw and inflamed i dont know whats going on. Could I have gut yeast and there be dying off of it from the Diflucan? I am also taking nystratin powdered and Jarro dophilus acidophilus. any others experience this type of stomach and intestinal HELL? Its okay to take the diflucan and nystratin together right? I take them all with food, and the jarro dophilus too. Help! Gracias

Yes, you can experience die-off from the Diflucan. You might want to consider a good herbal remady as well like Grapefruit Seed Extract or Olive Leaf Extract.

Two things you should consider to help heal the gut is Psyllium mixed with a little Bentonite Clay in water - taken away from meds and try adding some L-Glutamine powder to your beverage of choice.

And of course, no sugar or refined grains or alchohol.

Twinkles:

I try to take the OLE away from my other meds, esp. Diflucan, to give it a chance to work alone. I think it is a very powerful herb. I would start out slow with it & work up to the recommended 500 mg.

You are going to feel yucky. I always feel crummy about 12 hours after I take Diflucan. But, I know it is working because the symptoms go away in a couple of days. I only take Diflucan when I feel I need to. I try to rely on diet and herbal remedies as much as possible. Diflucan can be very hard on your liver.

Hang in there and have a happy new year.

For more immediate diminuation of nausea, I first try some type of ginger concoction - REAL ginger ale, warm water with ginger extract, or chew on a piece of ginger (spicy!!). If that doesn't work, I take a slug of Emetrol - usually two sips, 15 minutes apart, brings things to a level I can tolerate. It is an over-the-counter, albeit pricey, anti-nausea liquid. I think its usually for kids, but this adult thinks it works just dandy!

Hi, I've found peppermint extract, tea, and especially a product called "Peppermint Spirits" by Herbpharm to be quite effective for nausea. My friends say "but you don't get nauseous", and I wink and say "exactly". No just kidding, but the peppermint drops I mentioned have worked for many people I know, maybe it's worth a try for you.

I had great luck with tea of yarrow. (It's not too yummy though- perhaps a confirmation of the saying "good medicine tastes bad"...)
But yes, ginger is very gut-settling, too.
