My mom got lymes, Bell's Palsy and Epstein Barr at the same time 14 yrs ago. She has had symptoms off and on once under control. She is complaining of face nerves bothering her (on the oppisite side the Bell's occurred on).She says her mouth hurts on one side, along with her palate, throat, and general pain to that side. Which of the 3 diseases would it most likely be and should my mother just do nothing for the 3 days she ays each lasts. I don't think she has had one in a while.

Hi Snapdragon,

Welcome to Lymenet.

Bell's palsy can be a symptom of Lyme Disease or even diabetes.

I hope you will be able to convince your mother to see a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD) who can evaluate her & diagnose her according to symptoms. LD is a clinical diagosis.

The Igenex Lab Lyme Western Blot IgM & IgG test is used only as a tool to support the diagnosis.

I fought facial pain for over 10 years & it only gets worse if left untreated------if it is indeed caused by Lyme.

During this time I put my entire family through much grief due to the pain. It was a nightmare that never ended until I found an LLMD.

Here's an introductory book to Lyme Disease which my LLMD distributes to patients.

You can download & print the entire booklet. It has a comprehensive symptom list which you're mom would probably find fascinating.

It also lists reference links to sites which tell the truth about Lyme Disease. It's debilitating, if left untreated.

Here's the site:

www.LymePa.org

"Lyme Disease - The Basics"

=============================================

The handbook for Lyme Disease with symptom list can be found here & printed out:

www.ilads.org/burrascano_1102.htm

Diagnostic Guidelines & Treatment of Lyme Disease

=============================================

Also you can get great information at:
www.ilads.org

=============================================

Others will visit you soon with more links to research Lyme Disease.

I don't want to forget to warn your mom about taking steroids. Do not let anyone give her steroids for this, as it will depress the immune system. If it's Lyme, the bacteria will flourish.

To find an LLMD just hop over to SEEKING A DOCTOR and instructions are given. You can also click on the Lyme Disease Association icon on the left of the screen & they give physican referrals for your area.

Please keep asking questions. We know the quest for a diagnosis can be very daunting.

There is a lot of misinformation about LD in the medical community, so be sure you find a Lyme specialist.

Happy New Year,
Jan
