Here's some symptoms that have been getting MUCH worse the last few weeks (I'm not taking any antibiotics right now):

* Feet are cold!!! All the time.
* Legs get kind of bluish, weird patterns on them when I stand up.
* At night, I can barely sleep because hips/legs hurt so much. Feels like I am cutting the circulation off no matter how I lay down.

I've read about hypercoagulation here and on that hemex site (didn't help me at all to be honest) and it mostly sounds like people have headaches and stuff like that. Nothing that sounded like screwy circulation (which is my guess).

I've been either in bed or sitting at the computer and that's about it for the last 6 months. The last few weeks I've made extra effort to move legs around while in bed and to stand up every few minutes when sitting at computer. That's all I can do since I am so weak.

Any ideas? Similar symptoms? Truth be told, I'm kind of scared that somthing is really messed up and I'll end up with a clot or something.

My doc is "lyme friendly" but not an LLMD (but he's good enough that Dr. L in NY recommends him to folks where I live which is far from any LLMD). I'm worried he won't check it out and just say its b/c I'm in bed so much.

Anyway, I'm very concerned about this because even though I've been moving more the last few weeks, its gotten worse and today my legs hurt incredibly. Not only are my legs agonizing today, they turn blue every time I stand up.

Thanks for any info/thoughts!
~DM

PS - don't know if this is relevent/related: The other night I had the heating pad on (yeah,EMF's and all, but I'm always Cold!!) and dozed off. When I wke up, my arm was all tingly like when it falls asleep, but it took about 2 hours (not the usual minute) to stop tingling like that. It was along the side of the arm that runs into your pinky, it wasn't the whole arm.

Again, thanks.

Hi duramater,

I don't know, but I would call your doctor about this..cuz it would scare me too.

I wish I could be more helpful, and I hope the pain goes away soon.

i would have a hematologist take a complete workup on you asap. ask your doc for a referall tommorow.

if that is inconclusive you should see a neurologist as the tingling would be indicative of neuropathy.

hi durameter i came across this earlier today in my surfing - Cutis Marmorata - do a search on it and see if it looks like what you are experiencing.

i have been having the lacey purple "rash" on my legs lately when cold. i have also had problems in the past with raynounds in my hands. that HURTS!

the nerve you are talking about i believe is the ulnar. could it be that you had your arm across the arm of the chair or couch? that might explain that.

at any rate, good luck and sry to hear you are having these problems...

Duramater,

I work in surgery with alot of orthopeadic doctors. The tingling in your arm up to

your pinky is a symptom of ulnar nerve compression.

I get this sometimes if I lay my forearm on the edge of a table for awhile. We do quite

a few ulnar nerve decompressions or transpositions. This relieves the symptoms

(tingling and numbness). It could be a symptom of something else too though.

I would talk to your doctor. The discoloration and pain would fit with Raynauds.

I have heard that it is pretty painful and the discoloration can be very intense. I am

not a doctor(although I am a nurse) though, so have it checked out. In the meantime

look Raynauds up on the computer and read about it. I wish you luck. Take care!

The pattern on your legs could be mottling which is definitely a circulation problem.

Hi, Sorry, but this may add to your concern. Forgive its length, but maybe it will help. I have just gotten back on my feet after having over a dozen blood clots from my knee to my groin for 16 months. I got into the tub one night and my leg turned immediately blue/burgandy from toes to groin. I had some pain for a few days before, but nothing new for me. My doctor sent me to hospital for ultrasound which showed the clots, and that I had NO blood flow through the two largest deep veins in that leg. He hospitalized me and began treatment with Lovenox (shots you take in the stomach) for five days, morning and night. He also started me on coumadin to thin the blood. He kept me on Complete Bed Rest in the hospital for two weeks, then I came home to be in bed or recliner with three pillows under my leg. I could be up to frig. or bathroom, but more than that and leg would turn burgandy. He sent me to vascular specialist who agreed with all he had done, and recommended the same continued treatment. I had to allow the smaller veins to take over to empty that leg, which they have. I am still limited to about 20 minutes up on my feet before it becomes uncomfortable (like a blood pressure cuff around my knee, and the feeling of about to burst in my leg, like you get when the pressure cuff is too tight) It does not discolor as much, but when I sit down and put leg up it "puddles" around my knee (turns burgandy) as the blood waits to go through. Two weeks ago I found out I have a bone lesion in the other foot and my Ortho. Dr. thinks it is the Lyme, which I have had for 8 years, out of remission. In researching this I found that Lyme patients often have a chessy substance in their joints, especially knees, mine always look puffy, but when the substance is cultured it usually shows up sterile, even though it looks like infection. He now thinks that probably that restricted the flow of blood through that leg and contributed to the clots. I had also just taken a trip which added to it. I had been off of ABX. (Biaxin and Amoxycilin) for three months when the clots were found. I have no other circulatory problems, pulse very strong in both feet and no problem in carotid (neck) The vascular surgeon( who is extremely qualified, and from the most respected practice) said he could take care of it surgically immediately if it was in my arteries, but veins do not respond well to surgery. He said gravity would have to take care of it for me while the blood re-routed, and it has. I strongly recommend you ask your DR to do an ultrasound to be sure you do not have clots. You probably know the danger is that one, or a part of one will break loose and go to your lung. Until about six months ago, I could not even sit straight up in wheel chair with leg lift as that restricted flow in groin area too much. The other messages you have recieved could also be an explanation for Lyme has many, many symptoms as you probably know, but you do need to be sure you do not have a DVT, deep vein thrombosis. If it is circulatiion and it continues untreated it will damage the tissue in that leg, possibly causing gangrene. It can be taken care of so do not panic, but get help if that is what it is. Hope this helps. Sue
