In some of ,y posts before I have mentioned the red, hot facial flushing with no known "Rosacea triggers." Has anybody's facial skin started to react to moisturizers, etc. and touch? I have noticed that when I apply moisturizers that I get a slight pink pattern on my cheeks and nose (especially) and that sometimes when I cradle the phone against my face this causes me to get red around my jaw line. I have experienced all sorts of symptoms, bur the facial skin was the first and the most constant. I was told by one derm. that I had early Rosacea and another lyme literate derm. drew a connection between the bite and the onset of flushing. I spoke to the secretary at a LLMD's office who said rosacea and rosacea like events are a sign of lyme. Thanks for the help.

Heather

I have noticed the same thing. Creams burn and cause irritation. It was one of my first signs of lyme. Now it is around the lips, very sensitive, can hardly touch them cuz they hurt and burn all the time.

Yes thank God for Lymenet

Heather,

Just so you know, this may not be Lyme-related. Year before last, I had a terrible allergic reaction to my facial moisturizer - Burt's Bees. I had been using it for years with no problem, but suddenly, I couldn't. I was up all night with horrible pain and itching, icing my face for relief.

I contacted Burt's to find out if they had changed their formula, but they hadn't. I bought a new bottle, thinking that mine had gone off, somehow. Same result. In the end, I had to switch brands. It took me a while to find one I could tolerate (Kiss My Face Organics), but now that I have, I'm fine.

I happened to mention it to my sister who said that she too, had a similar experience years before - she felt that it was an age-related thing, changing hormones or whatever. We were both around 32-35 when it happened to us.

Of course, Lyme could result in your immune system sensitizing to something, so you'll want to change brands in any case. Good luck finding one that works for you!

I have a facial rash that has been diagnosed as rosacea by my dermatologist. So far, none of the lotions she has given me have been any help.

She would give me antibiotics, but doesn't need to, with what I am taking for Lyme.

The only thing I have personally found helps is an over the counter wrinkle serum. It has CoQ10 in it, and really reduces the rashing and burning. It even reduces the flushing, but not 100%.

If I don't use it, the itching and rash comes back. Even while on antibiotics. It's not cheap, but might be worth a try. I have my doctor prescibe it, so I can at least deduct it from my taxes.

Avalon Organics
CoQ10 Wrinkle Defense Serum

In California you can buy it in Safeway and Trader Joe's. Not sure how available it is otherwise.

The other thing that I notice correlates with an increase of flushing is sinus problems. It is not always a full out infection. For that, I find sinus flushing with saline is very helpful.

Good luck!

Facial flushing was one of my very first symptoms and it has been the most frustrating of all and the most constant symptom present. It's slowly getting better, but I hate it so much. Not only does it get red, but it gets extremely dry and sometimes peels. Other people sometimes get oily skin with redness. Sometimes my face gets blotchy and the color is very sickly. I also have to be selective with cleansers. Mosturizers make things worse.
