Last summer I experienced an unexplained fever that lasted two days. This subsided but was immediately followed by what can be best described as a crawling/tingling feeling in the muscles of my face (particularly the jaw/cheek muscles). I then visited my doctor and he performed a bacterial swab and a blood test. I was told that the swab was negative and that I probably had a virus that would pass. 1 Week later I received a call from the doctor saying that I was positive for Lyme disease and that I should go on a 10 day course of antibiotics. By this stage I was experiencing a painful left wrist. After two days of treatment the symptoms significantly reduced but unfortunately by day 7-8 they had returned. I was then put on another 10 day course (of a different antibiotic) although my doctor said that I was cured and that it was only precautionary. The pattern was the same as the first treatment. Upon returning to my doctor (a different doctor this time), I was given histamine tablets to assist sleep and told that there was nothing else to be done! Symptoms very slowly subsided but not completely. After about two months I can now sleep normally, my wrist pain is very infrequent but I still experience the tingling sensation in my face occasionally. Is this normal recovery or should I seek further treatment.? I feel like a hypochondriac when I re-read what I have just written.

I just posted a similiar question. The reply was that you should get treated until ALL SYMPTOMS are GONE. It's not in our head. You are not a hypochondriac. You are advocating for your health. Keep searching.

You should stay on antibiotics till all symptoms have gone, and THEN for another three months.

What you've shared seems a typical Swedish experience for people with Lyme Disease, including my aunt and an old friend.

If you're still sick after 10 days, too bad, it's not their problem!

I believe that ongoing symptoms show ongoing infection.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

I do not think there is a good LLMD in Stockholm, or in other parts of Sweden that I'm aware of.

You could go the the Eurolyme message board and see if anyone knows.
