BO, I had just copied this for someone else, so repeating it here.VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure when your friend hires a SSDI lawyer that he/she CAN represent her in CIVIL/FEDERAL COURT if appeals council DENIES her!
This happened to me 8-04 when my lawyer of about 4 yrs. QUIT/WITHDREW me knowing he couldn't represent me in civil court BUT he never told me this ahead of time.
This way you do NOT have to get a new lawyer after appeals council denies you. They will be familiar with your entire case from the beginning vs. when you are notified.
AC gives you 60 days only from the date you receive your denied AC ruling! I'm finding out now, denied 12-23, that there are FEW civil lawyers!
So that's my goal to get this done in the next 6 wks so I don't go over deadline!
Also, check out http://disability -- advocate.com !
This site is run by Mick Mickler, a former Texas DDS, disability determination services EXAMINER, who can give you valuable info!
SSDI lawyer: have your friend go to DISINISSUES, disability insurance issues, ALL about the SSDI process. A MUST SEE & READ. Sorry, but I don't have time to look up site page, but read below to find it..ok
Have her print off the female drs. 20 pages of detailed info that was applied to her 1st SSDI app!
You can do a search of the following:
1. My and ConnieMc's posts about SSDI in medical comments.
2. Check the topic lines on medical questions for the last week...a lot there.
3. Search using SSDI in medical questions without anyone's nickname.
It will bring up a lot of results.
Welcome lymster to this 24/7 support group board! Here's TREEPATROL's and tincup's combination newbie links.
I suggest that your friend print off the links then check them off as she reads as she could spend several months reading all of this.
Have her print & read Dr. Barrascono's info first. She will come back to this often.

WELCOME To LYMENET
Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.
Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.
Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.
