I woke up in early october with a backache

and a few other symptoms of a urinary tract

infection. So I went to the Dr. He found

blood in my urine and sent off for a culture

it came back showing no infection. Went back

in two weeks for recheck more blood so did

an xray for kidney stones, none and culture

came back neg again. Took cipro to be safe.

2 weeks later still bleeding did biaxin now Jan and

still having same problem. Doc is sending

me to a urologis tomorow. My question is can

babs cause this? I read a checklist of

symptoms and don't have most of them.I do

have night sweats and unrelenting headache

but other than that and this blood nothing

else. I thought I may stick my neck out and

mention it to the urologist tomorow if there

is a posibility of it being babesia. I have

been off of all treatment for over a year

now and am starting a quick spiral backwards

so considering finding an LLD again. Just

trying to cover all my bases. Thanks for

any thoughts.
Sunny

I'm glad you said stick your neck out. I hope I am wrong but I bet your urologist knows very little about babesia. A couple of your symptoms could be caused by babesia and it gets tricky because a blood test might not show it even if you do have it.You may want to consult with a your LLMD if your urologist continues to rule out other possibilities. Best wishes.

Trying2bsunny:

After 6 weeks IV Rocephin, 2 grams, 3-4 days a week I improved much in '99 but then had gross hematuria and started IV Claforan. No back ache, but I did feel funk for awhile.

I think anti Babesia meds can cause some red blood cells to rupture. My lab didn't find red blood cells but hemaglobin in my urine.

My urologist was unfamiliar with tick borne diseases and never did know what caused my hematuria (which has not returned, TYG).
