well I have went throught 13 weeks of IV rocephin did the herxing and a little itching that I handled with keeping my skin very moist with lotions. at week 11 of rocephin we added zithromax and at week 12 we add plaqinuil (sp?) then I quit the IV after 13 full weeks of taking it and started flagyl 750 mg and I have felt MUCH better. I had herx where I hurt real bad and HERX where I ran a HIGH fever and felt like I was dying.

On January 1st I added flagyl to the zithromax and plaquinil working my way up to the 750 a day dose. I just hit the full 750 dose of flagyl. At about the 500 dose mark I started having trouble with my emotions getting all out of wack guess that was the flagyl causing it. I did real good the first three weeks working my way up from a 1/4 of a tablet 4 days to 1/2 of a tablet 4 days then a whole tablet 4 days then 2 whole tablets for 4 days and now I am offically on the 3 250 tablets a day for 60 days. During all of this I have found that all my my herx consisted of either a mild herx pain, low fever, tremors that last between 5 and 15 minutes. I have ran fever before with a herx but most of the time it has been a low grade fever like less than 101. But on occassions almost regular intervals even from the beginning when I spiked a HIGH fever and got through the tremors and pain that all comes with it I feel better.

I woke up yesterday feeling a little off and as the day went on I got weaker and weaker on top of that get warmed fever wise. BY the time I checked my temp I had a 104.6 and had the shakes (tremors) so bad. My problem was that I had the tremors so bad I couldn't walk around to get my medicine then to the sink for water to take the med's with. Normally my tremors last 10 to 15 minutes 25 at the tops. This one lasted over 45 minutes and I think only calmed down because hubby went and got medicine got me something to take it with but also because I had someone there to hold me!
Ok out of all that babbling this is what I came up with that might be going on. I think after the ABX gets in my system and starts to work causing the fever to rise. I think the fever risings causes the the critters are coming out because they don't like heat and then the abx can kill the critters whiee they are out of hiding. The kill off of the critters causes the pain tremors and other such herx reactions I am having at the time.

I run low grade fevers on occassions but normally do not even when I was really sick I didn't run a fever. But since starting lyme disease treatment my fever has a cycle type thing of about 14 to 18 days after starting a new medicine my fever spikes up.

Could it be that when I fever is spiking up that high that the critters are coming out so the abx can kill them?
I am feeling better! And after I have my BIG herxes, as I call them, with my 104 fever and such I begin to feeling better. I might have one more herx like that with a high fever to kill off that rest of critters but I do begin to feel better. Gradually thank goodness. I think if I didn't see progress with this disease I would never believed this medicine or any type medicine would work. I am feeling better ( not this minute just coming out of a rough day) but over all I know after I get over this major herx as I calll them I will feel better and have something else taken care of. MY LLMD said I could be in remission by Easter and I am beginning to believe him.
Any thoughts on my rambling would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Stacie

Ok what is your thoughts about my rambling? If I made any sense let me know what you think.

All sounds very logical to me! It also sounds like your immune system is pretty healthy. I rarely am able to muster a fever and haven't for years. My normal is pretty low.

I'm so glad you feel you are getting a handle on this and can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
