Hi all,

I see my doc again today and at one point she mentioned putting me on ketek along with the current mepron and biaxin.

thing is, I am already blind in one eye (now I am learning it's apparently b'c of this Lyme/Babs) and I am afraid to go on ketek b/c I hear it is bad on your eyes.

I only have one useable eye.

should I refuse?

Sorry to hear of your vision difficulties.

Mepron & Biaxin for Babesia, I presume?

(I had better results from Hepalin).

Ketek may aversely affect eyes. It warns to take note if you lose focus if when abruptly changing glance from nearby to distant point.
Etc.

I began short term Ketek without no known problems. Maybe Ketek will help restore your sight somewhat?

But work closely with your Dr. Can they call Dr. B to see what he thinks?

Obviously if you depend on one eye, the last thing you want is to put it at risk. if other antibiotics are options, you might stick with them unless they don't help, or if they stop helping.

I take hot soak in pH neutralizer solution ev day, hoping the heat will slow the bugs residing in my CNS.

What is the dose and how long will you be on the mepron/Biaxin? Those are quite a load.

IMHO Ketek is a load in itself, too. When on Ketek I didn't want any other antibiotic.

thank you Neil. mep and biax it is.

2 Biax per day, and 2x mep, 1 tsp each time.

I am not really flaring very much, hence, she said in 3 months if I don't really flare - we bump it up to ketek.

I started the regimen 6 wks ago, and the babs titers are still at 128 (started at 128)

lyme and ehrlichia showed negative. but she also said lyme can hide, if we rout the babs lyme may show up? does that make sense?

mep isn't an abx is it? or not? I thought it did one thing, and the boax did another? dunno?

I do sit in a hot bath every other day. no solution in it, but, I do sweat a lot in the bath! what should I put in it? I was afraid to put anything in it b/c my cats sit on the edge of the tub and every so often swipe the water or try to drink out of it til I shoo them away.

Flygirl, I have a black cat that looks just like yours, and has 7 toes. Down here in Florida they call him a Hemingway cat and say that most of them with 7 toes are related.

He also likes to sit on the edge of the tub, but I need to heal and put stuff in anyway, would close the door if I thought he might fall in and be harmed.

You can use epsom salt and baking soda, epsom salt and hydrogen peroxide, or apple cider vinegar in a bath to detox. My alternative dr. recommends at least 3 baths a week. Rinse off with cool water after.
